Dec. 8, 2005 - Cookies are baked, party is prepped... School is done

Well, almost done with school for the day ~ I believe we covered ALL of our subjects today... in addition to baking 200+ sugar cookies for the party tomorrow and having a long coversation with my mom. 

We just practiced our mega math skills today... the kids are doing good, and Kainan and Jaedin both have already gotten so fast that I really can't keep up.  It takes me a bit to catch up to see if they got the answer right, which they always did.

I hope this Christmas party goes well.  I didn't really plan on planning a big thing... I had just planned on doing cookie decorating, so I'm not at all sure that I organized enough for everyone to do for two hours.  I just haven't been feeling terribly inspired ~ so let's see how it goes.

Speaking of all this confusion and chaos... I want to have a night off!  Some friends have invited me out for dinner Saturday and I would really like some non-kid time for a bit.  A nice, non-homeschool-related, non-working evening OUT.  No cleaning, organizing of parties, corralling of kids, unpacking of boxes, teaching, planning to teach, running errands, selling, dropping off, picking up, cooking meals, planning meals... etc.  Just go out for a nice relaxing evening. 

Of course that is the night that Sprite is going to a concert WITH Dh.  Sheesh.  I need to start up a babysitting co-op with my friends with similarly aged children!  I don't need one often, but it would be nice to be able to go do something once a month or so with my DH... and even go out with a friend or two every once in a  while too.   I used to have a once a month thing that didn't have to include home-life-responsibilities, and it was really refreshing.

Anyway ~ off to finish spelling with Abyni.  I finally got the "Better Spelling in 5 Minutes a Day" back from the library again, so while I was doing spelling with the big kids, Abyni asked to please do spelling too:)  We're doing her easier words, and topical words that will help with her read-aloud that she's doing for our Bible time. 

So, that's that... school in the middle of life:)
