Jan. 12, 2006 - Newton's Laws of Motion
Needless to say, today we learned about the Laws of Motion. We discussed them, came up with examples, etc. Then the kids each drea a cartoon/comic strip for each law to illustrate it. They came up with some entertaining thoughts there! Tomorrow we'll get into Sir Isaac Newton himself a little more.
That was actually the last things we did. I tend to save the konos-hands on stuff for last. I know once we do that, the kids are ready to just go off and play.
We ended up with a neat devotional this morning. We had been discussing friends, friendships, influence, etc. This morning I realized I hadn't come up with any other verses or anything, so I just opened up the devotional and started. It turned out to be a devotional abotu not being a bad influence... not dragging others down with a bad attitude or negativity. It led to some good discussions for us. Our verse for the day was 1 Timothy 4:12.
Still reading Cheaper by the Dozen, the kids are doing spelling on the computer right now, to be honest simply because I just ran out of planning energy for it at the moment. I also found a good site for the kids to practice any math facts they need to work on. Its at http://www.multiplication.com/interactive_games.htm There are actually a bunch of sites there that look interesting. The used a couple of them today to rev up their math facts speed.
We haven't gotten back into Latin and Greek yet. I needed to get the other subjects all flowing smoothly first. I shall try to implemnt it next week. We now have time to do it, since things are really flowing for us.
The boys are both in between their own individual reading books right now, so I'm going to have to find some tonight for them to choose from for tomorrow. I want to choose a bit harder books for NEXT time. I'll have to go through them first and find vocabulary words for them to learn first though, as that gives them a lot of encouragement when they actually start to read a book that is a little bit of a challenge.
Kainan has recently finished The Million Dollar Shot and George's Marvelous Medicine, Jaedin... well, he tends to read the science books off the shelves. For his reading time lately he's chosen to read the extra books about Archimedes. He just finds him so cool. That's my little scientist:)
Anyway... that's about it for the day!
