Jan. 17, 2006 - Well, it was a day.

In spite of the tremendous "trauma" of the morning with chores, the school day actually went fairly well.

We got Bible done, finished our "Friendship" prayers and verses.  Discussed "true" friendships, and not only how to find good friends, but how to be one as well.

We did Konos ~ learned about gears and wheels, then for math learned "hands on" how to figure out the circumference of a circle if you just know the diameter and then the opposite.  Sprite had a lightbulb moment there and went (something like), "Wow.  So THIS is what you were trying to teach us last year in our math books"

Guess I need to keep HANDS ON in mind whenever teaching math.

Anyway... we dicussed all types of wheels, such as the pizza cutter wheel, wheels that help the drawers slide smoothly, etc.  We also took apart the pencil sharpener and discussed why there are two gears, one smaller and one bigger...etc.

We also read another Cheaper by the Dozen chapter, copywork, math fact quizzing on the computer, and had art class.

Actually, art class at the moment doesn't seem terribly intellectual.  We're still working ont he furniture refinishing, so today we primed things, Joshua painted his final coat, etc.

Since my kids were still in trouble for not doing their jobs properly, I made them help sand and prime/paint cabinet doors until 3:15.  Then they got to go play with Keera and Joshua, and will just add a day of "no friends" to the end of their "no friends" punishment.  Its kind of hard to ground them from friends whent he friends come here for art class.

At any rate, school is almost done, although once Stephanie comes to pick up her kids, my kids still have at least another 30 minutes of school, and 30 minutes of painting to do.

And that is the rest of the story...
