Feb. 6, 2006 - Monday ~ Latin, Math & Science... and all those other things
Well, we did the "normal" subjects. Kainan finished up his book A Dog Called Kitty and did a report ~ or rather filled out a book report form for it. Now I'm on the lookout for his next book... we do have a library visit this evening, I guess I need to add that to my list!
The other kids are still in their same books... no, actually Paris finished Meet Kirsten today ~ but she's still working ont he lapbook for it.
We reviewed our Greek & Latin (English from the Roots Up) words from the beginning of the year ~ I was impressed at how much they remembered. The only words they had issues with were the ones we had JUST started on before we moved.
I had worked this weekend on typing up a Latin/Greek word search (the words and their definitions were always interlinked within the word search) and a Quiz for the kids to do Friday.
I also typed up a Mega Math review Test. The kids did the Addition and Subtraction part today. Kainan flew through it in 15 minutes, Sprite and Jaedin pretty much only got the first half done. Kainan did miss 4 questions out of 40, all of which were just simple mistakes becasue he was in such a hurry. Sprite and Jaedin will finish up tomorrow ~ and I've already seen what I need to review. They each only missed one question... but struggled with remembering HOW to do them in the first place. Sprite really struggles doing the math in her head with the large numbers in subtraction.
Paris had forgotten completely how to do the large numbers, but she got all the tens problems right ~ even ones that Kainan missed!:)
Abyni spent a while doing her math today too. She's still on simple addition and subtraction. I really need to consistently practice those with her so she can really "get it" and have them memorized... and then move on to the other math topics she enjoys more.
For Science, the kids started working on their homework, adn I had them all illuminate a lightbulb using just a battery and anything they wanted out of the taken-apart-VCR that the boys dismantled last week. It was interesting seeing how everyone was able to work through and figure out what was wrong when it didn't work.
That's all... yes, we did get something done!!!
