Feb. 7, 2006 - Tuesday ~ latin, Math test, art class, Alexander Graham Bell video
Whew! Art class is over. Joshua decoupaged his cards onto his shelf today. My kids got another coat of paint on their chairs, and picked out their pictures to decoupage on them. Kainan picked basketball cards; Jaedin, critters of some sort; Paris and Abyni I believe are choosing one of the Picasso or Van Gogh prints we have copies of. Sprite ~ who knows? She still has primer on her chair, so she's got a ways to go yet.
We did most of a school day today. We did Bible, "practiced" praying God's Word, went over each of their verses and copied them down.
We did the kids independant subjects, reading, History, etc. I read a chapter of Belles on Their Toes.
And we worked on the Latin/Greek wordsearch I made this past weekend. In the search, I put together Latin/Greek words interlinked with the meaning. The kids have 30 words with meanings to find. Kainan is down to only needing one already.
We also made out new Latin/Greek cards for the next 7 words in our list. I bought the kids all index card boxes (48 cents!) and plenty of index cards. They color a border of red for Latin words, green for Greek words, and I write the word in large blue letters on the front. Then, as we go over and learn the words, the kids write the meaning of the word on the back ~ as well as current words that use those roots.
By the end of this week, we should be on word 25. Hopefully now that I"ve gotten all our "equipment" unpacked for that, we won't forget to do it again!:)
After lunch, the kids all colored on their placemats for the Cub Scout Blue and Gold banquet while they watched a video about Alexander Graham Bell. It was actually wquite interesting. Things I didn't know... although that's not saying much. After that, it was almost time for the kids to show up for art, so we didn't get any other Konos subjects done.
All in all ~ a good day:) We are starting our writing workshop next Tuesday between lunch and gymnastics!! I can't wait!!!:)
