Mar. 8, 2006 - Writing and Art
Well, yesterday was art and writing. Since we'd gotten home LATE on Monday night from ballet and scouts, I let the kids sleep in a little and we just did chores in the morning. I figure the afternoon writing course is intensive enough, plus art after we've had a big busy Monday... so that was our Tuesday school.
Anyway, the little girls made tissue paper flowers to look like VanGogh's flower painting. We took copies of his flower prints and cut them up and made a "vase" for our flowers. We cut a lot of odd shapes, used paintbrushes to spread watered down glue on the front of the picture. Then the girls put the picture INSIDE their glass/plastic jar and smoothed it down. They turned out really neat:)
The flowers took longer than I expected, so it took a bit after the girls left for gymnastics before I was ready for the boys' art. Then I found that the mom who was going to bring hte boys art book had forgotten, so the boys just went int he backyard and played. Kerra and Sprite (and actually Jaedin for a while) watched a video on Degas and then got their homework with a brief set of tips and instructions.
Today has been a typical school day... nothing too exciting (which sometimes can be a very good thing)!
