Does this count as School?

Jan. 10, 2006 - Okay, school today ...

This IS supposed to be my school blog, yes?

So today we got another late start. It's hard when I don't get enough sleep. I know, I know, lots of moms don't get enough sleep. Get over it and get to work, Kim!

We read more from our biography about John (not Paul! LOL!) Bunyan. I am really enjoying reading about him. Maybe I'll look for more bios of him. And I need to get the Little Pilgrim's Progress that Nicole recommended, because I have the original, unabridged, unmodernized one and, um, it's hard to read. I like John Bunyan because, even with all the facts, he struggled with his faith and second guessed himself and his understanding, called himself "tormented" by this, and had to persevere in seeking God when he struggled with not being what he thought he should. I can totally relate to that.

Then we did some spelling and math. We're trying to get going with Spell to Write and Read. I had the kids make sentences with their spelling words and they thought that was a hoot. They're fun to teach, they like most things that we do. It's too bad I'm not more organized and on top of things, I'm really the stumbling block in our school much more than they are. And they love math.

That was it for formal things. We had the "life skills" housework and things, as normal, and some music practice, got out the guitars at one point, the recorders several times, and the piano much too much for my aching head today. And the kids listened to the Focus on the Family Radio Theater production of A Horse And His Boy at quiet time and bed time. We had an exercise time in the evening, walking away the pounds, and devotions before bed. That was our schoolish day.

Look at it this way: soon (WAY too soon) you'll have an empty house and all the time to sleep you want. Enjoy that sleep-deprived state, honey!
