Last week my mother was diagnosed with tongue cancer.  It is the type that spreads so now we are waiting to hear if it has.  She had some CT scans, x-rays and blood work done on Wednesday.  We go in Monday morning to hear all the results.  We know for sure she is having surgery on her tongue to remove the cancerous tumor.  If it has spread, which we are praying it hasn't, then there could be another surgery to remove the lymph nodes.  Also, she would be doing radiation and/or chemotherapy.  My prayer is that it hasn't spread because the doctor says this was early detection. She is having another issue in addition to the cancer, possibly something called Wegener's.  It is rare and weird and not very understood.  Apparently there is medication to control it.  Please pray for my mother that it is God's Will for her to have a speedy and uneventful recovery!

My boys are worried about her, I am worried about her.  It is all so infuriating.  To top it all off she doesn't have health coverage at this time.  She will in January, but the insurance won't cover any cancer or diabetic related stuff until after a year!!  It infuriates me.  She is applying for some assistance to help with medical bills.  Some charitable organizations offer help and the hospital is giving her huge discounts on some stuff too.  So, I am praying that there will be very little she has to pay out of pocket for. 

This week was a very relaxed week of school.  We covered the basics, but didn't get to science and history every day like we normall do.  I am thinking about changing up our school routine, but I will post more on that later.  We also went on a field trip to a glass works place.  It was pretty neat.  We watched them make a bowl.  I took some pictures, but haven't upload them yet.
