We started back to school today after a two week break. Can I just say that I am exhausted? I am beat for a multitude of reasons:
1) My 4 yo does not stop talking to me and wants to be in my lap or have me playing with him all of his waking hours. He is too sweet for words, but he is very demanding and bossy! He thinks the world revolves around him, which I guess is normal for a 4 yo, but my older two were never as clingy as this little guy is.
2) The curriculum I am using with my 11 yo is killing me. Probably him too. He HATES "busy work," but frankly I don't know any other way to "teach" him. I really like our Abeka and it is not overwhelming, in fact it is just right. It is the Bob Jones subjects that I just want to chuck out the window. Which is sad because I think they are really good, but they are too intense and I feel like if I don't follow the teacher book that I going to miss something. Sometimes I try not to use the T.E. and inevitably something seems missing! UGH!
3) The two older boys are CONSTANTLY fighting and it is so draining to be their referree. I am considering buying some boxing gloves and throwing them out in the yard and letting the best man win. LOL Not really, but a mom can dream right? Actually, my dream is that they would quit calling each other idiot, moron, retard etc and KEEP THEIR HANDS TO THEMSELVES AND MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS. They are constantly in each others business. I keep referring to the scripture about getting the plank out of their own eye, but they just stare at me blankly and then one of them smacks the other. I grounded the 16 yo last week because he pinned down his brother so he could flatulate 3 inches from his face. Nice. This is life with boys. I flipped out on him and told him not only was it unacceptable it was GROSS and RUDE. I ruined his week and lo and behold he hasn't pulled that maneuver again. Yet.
4) My husband, my "dear husband" calls me a dozen times a day. He knows I have my hands full, I ask him nicely not to call, then I TELL him not to call, then I outright say, "Look honey, don't call us, we'll call you. I'll have my people call your people." Yet, he STILL CALLS. Then he comes home and talks and talks and talks. Why can't I have one of those husbands that never talks to their wife? Couldn't he just come home, crack open a beer, read the paper and goto bed? LOL
Are YOU tired yet? Someone get me a Tylenol PM.
