• Apr. 20, 2007 - been thinking an unusual thing about VT

I noticed this because my sister articulately put what I 'd been thinking--we are friends with a couple from Campus Crusade, and one of the things they mentioned was that several CCC kids had actively reached out to the shooter. I felt relieved to see that SOMEONE was really trying to reach out. (In retrospect, it sounds like others, in various classes and such, did, as well.) In all the things surrounding the past week, perhaps it's an odd thing to focus on, but it just made me feel better.

Thanks for the comment! You make an interesting point. Emily does have a psychic dream about what happened to the person they thought ran away. This just emphasizes the fact that the books are not written from a Christian perspective.

On the one hand I love the Emily books because she's a writer, so they're good inspiration for me. But on the other hand, I don't know if I would let my future kids read them either.

In her own life, L.M. Montgomery had quite a few dreams that actually happened. I don't know what to make of that, if you would call it being psychic or not. Very strange.

Hi! I read your comments on Beth's blog (3menandalittlelady) and thought immediately that you were someone I could relate to! So I came over to check out your blog, and I did indeed find some things of interest. I'm too tired to read or comment much at the moment, but I will come back.

One comment I will make is that I agree completely with your statement that highly emotional, ADHD kids need to be disciplined differently. It is a real learning process, isn't it? I have blogged a little about my "KWAD" (tho not much about discipline) and always wonder what people think who *don't* deal with this type of child on a daily basis. i did a post in late March called Powerful Stuff (I think!!) that might interest you.

One more comment-- we too have used Further Up & Further In, tho as an occasional resource rather than a unit study. My kids love the Narnia stories, as did I growing up. Do you have the drama CDs by Focus on the Family Radio Theater? They are excellent and quite true to the books.

I'll try to visit again soon. (I really should write something on my OWN blog rather than commenting on others'!)

That shooting was so sad! I've met the RUF campus minister there and he and his students are trying to reach out to thos who are hurting. It's so sad!
