My Little Women and Men at Home

12 More Days!

I'm using purple today, because this post is in honor of my dd6.  She loves purple...so I can't in good conscience write in any other shade

Perhaps you wonder about the heading?  Well, as several of you know, I have not officially begun homeschooling dd6, because we decided to let her finish out kindergarten.  We felt it was just too close to the end of the year to pull her out and the school is not  a traditional graded one.  It is set up like an old-fashioned one room school house.  She has picked up some attitude, but we don't feel that we've lost her heart...yet.

So...she has 12 days(this includes weekends)left of school!  I am so excited that she will be out soon.  I'm looking forward to pushing forward in this new adventure.  I so want to get started educating and encouraging my daughter.  I'm also looking forward to working on those areas that need correction...attitude, treatment of sister, etc.  These are things that would be neglected or made worse in public school.

Will you join me in rejoicing in this new road the Lord has placed before me and my hubby?  The journey will begin soon...thanks to all who have given me encouragement...Dawne, my friend...thank you especially

I am REJOICING with and for you! I can only imagine how exciting this must be for your family...follow the Lord and it will all work out, even over those rough patches..and they will come! But, remember many have gone before you, taking a child out of school to homeschool, some children do not like this idea for a while, I mean what child wouldn't rather be in a room of peers? :-) Seems like most times there is a 'honeymoon' stage, the child LOVES HS right off the bat, but when the novelty wears off they go through a little grieving process of missing their peers and what not.

Praying for your family as you ready yourselves to make the transistion...you will do GREAT! :-D

Hi Sommer,
How funny that I just happened to find your blog! I've been reading about you and your comments on Basically Bluedorn. It's so exciting that your daughter is almost out of school! I know you'll be able to make such a big difference in her attitude and behavior with her at home. I'll be praying for the transition and for your husband's job opportunity.

This is my place to come and chat about God, my family, my life, and my homeschool endeavors. I am happily married, with two beautiful "Little Women" and a new "Little Man". We've been homeschooling for a year and are using a Classical Christian perspective and some of Charlotte Mason's principles as well.

Homeschooling classically can be different! It can be less hurried in the younger years! It can be Christian and focused on His word!
