I came across this blog today. PostSecret **(WARNING: Some of the material may be offensive to some readers. If you are easily offended, I would avoid the link.) I didn't really 'get' it at first. But as I scrolled through the posts, I can't describe all the different emotions that I felt.

This is a place where people mail their deepest secrets on a postcard. Then they are posted on this blog. Some of them are really profound. I see loneliness, grief, despair, hopelessness... I thought of the times in my life when I have felt the way these people do. I thought about secrets that I had, that no one else knows about. No one else, but God.

Then I felt a great sense of compassion for these people. I imagined the great effort it took for them to sit down and compose their thoughts, the great courage it took for them to go to the mailbox, open the lid, and let that postcard slip through their fingers. I wondered, did they feel a sense of relief? Was a huge weight lifted off their shoulders? Or was the burden heavier? I cried for them, because I realized that this is the world in which we live.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30

This is such a powerful verse of scripture. What an invitation! Oh, the joy to have someone who we can cast our cares upon. Oh, how awesome to have someone love us so much, the He would carry our burdens for us. I am overwhelmed with grief for those who do not know Jesus. I am grieving for those who are weary and are carrying such a heavy load. Don't they know that they don't have to bear it alone?! Someone is waiting to give them rest. All they have to do is whisper the name of Jesus. All they have to do is call on His name. We have to tell them! They have to know!!

Dear God,
You see all and know all. You feel what we feel. You know each person, Lord. You know what is in our hearts. You know our deepest, darkest secrets. I pray that you would minister to those who are weary and burdened. Lord, you are waiting to lighten the load. God, I pray that they would seek you. That they would call upon your name Lord, so that they may find rest, and peace. Let them feel Your love, and let them know that they are NEVER alone.
