The other night, the girls and I were breaking in our new (to us) Parcheesi game. I have such fond memories of this game. I used to play it all the time with my grandmother. I wanted to pass on the same tradition to my girls.
We were getting down to the nitty gritty of the game. Rachel had one more pawn left to get home. She needed to roll a three to win the game. She was getting ready to roll the dice when she got down on the kitchen floor on her hands and knees. I asked her what on earth she was doing...
"Praying." she said.
I snickered to myself. Oh, how cute, I thought. She is praying so that she will win the game. She got back up in her chair and rolled the dice. The game off the game board and landed on the table right in front of me. I was getting ready to tell her that she needed to roll again because the dice went off the board... but when I looked down, what to my wondering eyes did I see? A one and a two staring up at me. I'll be a monkey's uncle!! She rolled a three!!
Next, it was Sarah Beth's turn. Learning from her younger sister, she hit the floor on her knees and said a little prayer. She needed a 12 to win. There was NO WAY she would roll a 12. She rolled the dice and I watched as a dice hit the board. Two sixes. She rolled a 12.
I couldn't believe it! So, it was my turn. I said a little prayer and rolled the dice. I didn't get what I needed.
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." Mark 10:14-15
That really spoke to me. I thought the kids were silly to ask for prayer over a silly game. But it was important to them. They prayed with the faith that God would answer their prayers, and He did. Unless we have this same faith, we can not enter the kingdom of God.
Dear Lord,
I pray that you give me that same child like faith as my children have. And that I learn to have the faith that you will answer all of my prayers.
