This past week has given me a new perspective of the importance of having a church family and the power that family has when they rally together in the name of Jesus.I can't help but imagine what would have happened if the church family had not interceded in prayer. I have no doubt that my precious friend would still be suffering greatly. God is so good.
Going through this reminds me of how important it is to pray for the protection of the people we love. Pray for their families. Pray that Satan will not attempt to tear them apart. The enemy, Satan, goes about as a roaring Lion, to and fro, seeking whom he may devour... and the church is not immune to his ploys.
There are so many out there who are suffering, who long for someone to just love them, reach out to them, tell them that they are special. There are even many in the church who need ministered to. Others assume they are OK because they are sitting on a pew each Sunday, or singing on the praise team. In reality, they are dying inside, screaming for someone to reach out to them, to show that they care. They are suffering in silence, and day by day, the enemy steals their joy, and their hope.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,When we ask someone how they are, do we really listen to them? Do we really care? Or do we just wait for them to finish so we can tell them how crummy the world is treating us ...or so we can hurry and go about what we are doing?
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted. "
Matthew 5:3-4
As we minister to those who are lost, let us not forget to minister to those in our family.
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor."
Isaiah 61:1-3
