The Good Napkins

Posted in Funnies

...ahhhhh...the joys of having girls...

A dear friend sent me this in an email today. (Just want to clarify I didn't write this, and this didn't happen to me.  :-)  Hope you enjoy!

My mother taught me to read when I was four years old (her first mistake).

One day, I was in the bathroom and noticed one of the cabinet doors was ajar.  I read the box in the cabinet.  I then asked my mother why she was keeping 'napkins' in the bathroom. Didn't they belong in the kitchen?  Not wanting to burden me with unnecessary facts, she told me that those were for 'special occasions'. (Her second mistake)

Now fast forward a few months....

It's Thanksgiving Day, and my folks are leaving to pick up my uncle and his wife for dinner.  Mom had assignments for all of us while they were gone. Mine was to set the table.

When they returned, my uncle came in first and immediately burst into  laughter.  > Next came his wife who gasped, then began giggling.  Next, came my father, who roared with laughter.  Then came Mom, who almost died of embarrassment when she saw. Each place setting on the table with a "special occasion" napkin at each plate, with the fork carefully arranged on top.  I had even tucked the little tail in so they didn't hang off the edge!!

My mother asked me why I used these and, of course, my response sent the other adults into further fits of  laughter.

"But, Mom, you SAID they were for special occasions!!!"

Isn't it easier to just tell the truth?????????

Thanks for commenting about pictures. I only have a Cannon Rebel SLR which my DH graciously purchased for me when he gave me a trip to Israel for my 40th birthday. And I only know how to work the automatic settings. I am going to see if I can find some instructions on the internet because I can't seem to find mine to learn the manual stuff which I would like to do. Yes, a digital would be nice, but I guess when I need one I will have one.

My dd and I have been looking through the box of pictures today and finding some of my "gems". We have a pitiful(sp?) scanner and so the upload process may be awhile. I will either process them to my blogger or look into opening a photo blog.

Whew! what a long comment. I will let you know when I have pictures up.

That is an absolute riot! I actually had to read it twice to get the gist of the story but then it was so incredibly cute! Thanks for brightening up my day with the innocence of our wee ones.

btw, your pumpkin on the side bar is great! I was considering having the girls paint gourds like VeggieTale characters - Bob, Larry, the peas...you know. I really like your idea though because it incorporates where the Light comes from.
