What's Cookin' for Dinner?

Posted in Theme of the Day

(or  Supper, depending on where you live.)    Either way, you mean I have to think about it as I'm drinking my morning coffee?    I didn't make out my meal planner this week (do ya just ever get lazy during the Summer?)  I hate to admit it, but sometimes we don't even eat supper 'til 9:00 (after dragging the kids in from playing outside.  It is so hot during the day, I let them go out and play after it cools off a little)

Disclaimer:  I never claim to be a professional. I'm no Martha Stewart.  I just feel like I need to clarify that sometimes.

That said, after rummaging around in the cabinets, and digging through the freezer, here are a couple of options that I have for supper tonight:

Meal Option #1

Grilled Chicken Breasts- (We use our grill year round).  Seasoned one of two ways.

  1. With some of my top secret, homemade BBQ Sauce, that tastes very similar to Montgomery Inn Sauce, for all those 'Yankees' out there.  (BTW, I am a transplant from Cincinnati.)
  2. With Olive Oil, Salt, Thyme, & any other season that I happen to have in the cabinet at the time, and feel like throwing on my chicken.

White Rice- (yummy) Dh likes it with sugar.  I like it with just a little butter.

Steamed Broccoli, Califlower, and Carrots-  With a little garlic butter to coat it in.

Applesauce -We eat applesauce with just about everything!

Sweet Tea- (Made from Lipton Cold Brew.  The best thing to ever happen to tea!)

Milk

(Just remember, I'm not a professional!)

Meal Option #2

Grilled 'cheese' hamburgers- (what my dd calls a cheeseburger.) topped with my top secret, homemade BBQ Sauce  lol

Grilled corn on the cob- (beginning to notice a theme here?)  We love grilled corn on the cob!

Baked beans

Green Beans (the only kind of bean I will eat.)

Sweet Tea

Milk

Well, that is about it!  It doesn't sound as good as Gena's.  Can we come over to your house for Supper?

My dh is working this evening, so I'll be making a nice, easy and fun meal for the kids and I. Soft tacos or something.
