James Dobson supports legal rights for unmarried gay couples

Focus on the Family's James Dobson is responding to conservative critics of his support for a Colorado measure that would extend legal protections to unmarried couples.
On his radio broadcast Thursday, Dobson said he's being unfairly attacked by "conservatives who claim to follow the cause of Christ."
The legislation would allow any two people who can't marry -- everyone from gay couples to elderly sisters -- to sign up and get the right to visit one another in the hospital, transfer property and make medical decisions for each another.
Paul Cameron of the Family Research Institute says Dobson has "come off the tracks" of the Christian movement in backing rights for gay couples.
But Dobson says he believes in providing legal rights without redefining marriage.

Hmmm. It gets to be a murky mess when we try to define how things "should" be and aren't involved in what God told us to actually be doing.
I wouldn't want to be in Dr. Dobson's shoes right now...but they are his shoes, and I'll bet he's trying like anything to point them in the right direction...wherever that may be.
He's been a pretty good proponent for the family, especially the Christian family. He's going to get slammed hard for this. But, hey, God is his father the same as mine, and from what I know of God, He's pretty good at bringing things back into focus.
Thanks for posting this.

So you shared the information... what are your thoughts? I hadn't heard about this... what else is he saying as to why he feels this way?
Blessings,

As a supporter of FOTF and Dr Dobson, I went to their website to see if I could get more info about this. I found this: http://family.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/family.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=23999 I can see where he's coming from, and agree with a previous commenter that he's always supported the family & fought the gay agenda, so I agree that he's in a tough position!
