Hard times for a young Duke basketball fan

Posted in Family Life

Well, Duke lost ANOTHER heartbreaker last night, this time to archrival UNC.  The young Duke squad jumped out to an early lead, which they maintained for 3/4 of the game, but then the bigger and stronger Carolina team inched ahead and won the game by 6 points.  My poor 8-y-o, an avid Duke fan, is definitely experiencing the "agony of defeat" ( remember the Wide World of Sports?).  I keep telling him to hang in there ~ when you are a fan, you cheer for your team when they are up and when they are down.  He's gone to bed in tears three games in a row now. Hopefully there will be an "up" soon.

Last night I was leaving a comment when EO walked by, asked why was "J...'s Mom" on OUR computer and why didn't you talk to us! I had to explain it was a photo and it made me wonder what these young ones will experience with technology when they EXPECT live webcams!! Anyway, after I told him he promptly reached down and hit the power button so my initial message to you was lost.
I was just going to tell you that it is so great that J is so devoted to his team, it shows that he will be faithful in things, don't you think? Tell him to keep his chin up, the ACC Tourn and March Madness will be good for Duke - hopefully!!!!
