Chapter 5- The Gold
I looked at Barky's snake bite. Or maybe it wasn't a snake bite. I peeled the fur out of the way and then I saw it!
"It's not a snake bite!" I yelled. "It's a thorn!" I jumped up with a smile on my face. Then I forgot that the thorn was still in there. I pulled it out.
Barky whimpered while I was pulling it out. It bled a little bit.
I hugged my dog and said, "You stay in the bed, Barky. I'm going to do my morning walk."
When I got back from my walk, I climbed the ladder to check on Barky. Then I sat down to catch my breath. My mouth was dry. That meant I was thirsty. I walked to my water bucket and gulped some water.
I climbed down the ladder to make sure the snake was gone. I looked, and the snake was gone.
But I saw something shining---on a rock!
"Wow! That might be gold!" I shouted.
I ran to the place where I saw the "might-be gold." Could it be...? "No way can gold be here---unless there is a whole bunch of gold here. Is it gold? Is there more?" I wondered.

Chapter 6-The Digging
I looked closely and-it was gold!!! But how could I get it out of the rock? I climbed up the ladder to think of this. After about a half an hour I climbed down the ladder. I found a piece of metal and started to make a sword with my pocket knife. When I was finished with the blade, I started to carve the handle. It took me about three hours. When I finished, it looked great. Now I can build more furniture for my tree house.

I then picked up the sword and started to dig the gold out of the rock. I was so tired after I dug the gold out. I then put it in my tree house. I was asleep in 30 seconds.
