Relief sometimes comes slowly.
|
It has been one of those days that seem to be never ending. I have been talking on the telephone all day contacting relatives, first making calls to let them know about Mom's fall and later to update them on her condition. Mom was transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center, an hour's drive by ambulance. After consulting with the doctors, surgery was performed. The surgeon discovered that, praise the Lord, it was not as bad as they initially thought. The tibia, the largest bone, was not broken after all, only fractured and chipped. The fibula, the smaller bone, was a complete break. The surgeon removed the bone fragments, cleaned and scraped everything, and then put a plate and screws at the break, which was right at the ankle. The ligaments were not torn but are really stretched. The main concern at this point in time is infection and healing because of Mom's diabetes. They are administering antibiotics. She may go home as early as Sunday if things go well in the next 24-36 hours. Recovery is expected to be 6 - 8 weeks. Thank you for praying and please continue to pray for a quick recovery. |
