Exotic places!
Sometimes life takes us places that we never in the world imagined we would be. Most of us have dreamed in our lives of going to someplace exotic. Maybe Hong Kong, Timbuktu, Florence, Paris or Rio de Janeiro. Maybe we dream of working, vacationing, or living in what we would consider "Paradise on earth".

The reality is that relatively few people ever experience their "Paradise on earth". God sets us in places we often consider mundane or boring to do the job that He has for us in the "reality of life". Even in the mundane or boring, we can find blessings from Him and beauty in the reality.

Although it is extremely cold in Killdeer, the snow this year is beautiful. It is quiet and laid back without the rush of a big city. I have a home, food, clothing and a wonderful family. Carolyn and I get to spend real time together, although she also thinks it is mundane and boring. It will be interesting to see what the area is like in the spring and summer when the crops are growing and the kids are out of school. I know that God has a reason for placing us in this community at this time.

You see there are really no exotic places, because the people who live in our exotic place look at the "reality of life" the same as I do in Killdeer, ND., a town with no stop light, one small grocery store, a couple of gas stations and restaurants, 40 minutes from the nearest Walmart or movie theater, and 2.5 hours from any "real" shopping. They look at the mundane and boring and dream of an "exotic" place like Killdeer, ND. unless they look for God's blessings and beauty in their reality.

Do you look just look at the mundane and boring and dream of the exotic, or do you look for God's blessings and beauty in your "reality"? To use a familiar verse, I will be content in whatsoever state I am in which happens to be North Dakota, at the present time, in a small town living what many would consider to be a boring and mundane life unless they looked at my many blessings!
