We started our History timeline today

Posted in Mystery of History

My husband made all of the dates and strips and had them laminated at Office Max ($4 per poster board, but right now its 30% off.)  He cut them out and taped them to the sewing board ($8 at a fabric store)  It measures 3' x 6' but folds to 40" x 12" x 1" so I can put it away except for on Fridays.

The bottom circles are the days of creation (light/dark, sky, a tree, the sun, birds and fish, man, rest) and the 4 figures on the timeline so far are Adam and Eve and Jubal and Tubal-Cain.  The kids had fun making them.

Also, Jason took my CKEB book to Office Max and they rebound it as a spiral so that I can make copies easier.  Total cost $3.29.  Isn't that awesome?

So we have completed our first week of school and frankly it was a breeze.  Everything went so well, and it felt relaxed and fun.  So far I love all of the curriculum choices I have made for the year, and the kids seem to like it too.  We are more classical this year than in the past, but I wouldn't classify us as classical.  Just a hodge podge really.

That is very cool. I never thought of doing it that way. Glad your first week went so well.

I have been a bad blogger lately.....I've been so busy I have only had time to write on my own blog. I'm going to get back to making time to check out other blogs. Have to keep in touch with my friends! How are you?

I got your comment the other day, but I think it was before I posted all the pictures. You'll have to check it out. I finally figured out how to do it! I hope you have a lovely weekend my friend!

Love, Kathy

Are the names Jubal and Tubal-Cain for Cain and Abel? How far does the time line go?

As for the rebound book as a spiral, that is great!! I am so glad to know that! I may steal that idea too! Thanks friend-of-much-useful-and-helpful-knowledge! :)

Loved the dinner (while eating it) but I am stuffed and feeling kind of sick now. I just can't be happy, can I? Feeling this way makes me eager to get back on the plan tomorrow and not do this again for a long time!

I should have recognized those names! We are on the Tower of Babel. I did read the 4th chapter to the girls but obviously I didn't pay much attention to the part after Cain was exiled! One time I read this fictional account of a group searching for the ark and the author had these flashbacks inserted in the story where he would describe the ancestors of Noah and their accomplishments like working with metal and music and building. It was really good! That is another thing I like about the book I posted on last night. It presents the fact that the people during the time of the flood were probably quite advanced. Again I lament the fact that I have been brain washed to automatically think of the early people as unintelligent. I love training my children to think from a Biblical perspective. The first people would not have the memory problems, difficulty learning new things, etc. (which I have because) their genes were purer! :)

Anyway, thanks for clarifying for me! :) In Him, Eva
