Pass the Torch Tuesday

Posted in PTT

Recently, my 11 year old son was in my room and was scarred for life saw my stomach.  He said nonchalantly, what are those stripes on our stomach?  I said, "They are called stretch marks.  You get them when you have babies and your skin stretches to accomodate them."

Do you know what my wonderful, terrific, only favorite son said in response?  (You have to speak 11-year-old-boy to truly get the impact of this.)

"Sweet."

Having my OWN 'darling' 11 year old boy....I can relate.

I'm pretty sweet myself. :)

About the oats, if you're thinking about switching over to better for you oats, you can do it gradually. Go to regular rolled oats first to not scare them too much. It's still pretty easy to make it in the microwave. You just have to add your sweetener, butter and milk yourself. I prefer brown sugar, but it's not nearly as good for you...lol. I've done maple syrup before and that works pretty well, too. My 9 yo ds loved the steel cut this morning! My 6 year old dd wasn't too impressed though. She's not a big oatmeal fan anyway.
