I am not an unschooler. Of all the homeschool styles I have absorbed into my eclectic educational philosophy, unschooling is not one of them. In fact, I am not even sure I understand what unschooling is. Neither does Gail Kerr, apparently. Read this. Don't get me wrong-- I am not knocking unschoolers when I say I am not one of them. I am just too scared to loosen the reins that much at home. I fear my children would do nothing but play video games and sleep late. But I would never expose my ignorance of the subject by writing a column in the newspaper about it. |
