WFMW Reed's Peach Cobbler

Posted in WFMW

Here's a recipe for the peach cobbler that my 10 year old makes for us:

1 bag frozen peaches (she uses almost the whole bag, original recipe calls for 2.5 cups)
1c. sugar
1 c. self-rising flour
1 c. milk
1/2 c. melted butter

Mix together peaches and 1/2 c. of sugar.  Let stand.  Preheat oven to 350.  In a separate bowl, mix together remaining sugar, flour and milk until blended.  Stir in melted butter.  Pour batter into a greased pie pan.  Spoon peach mixture over batter.  Bake for 1 hour or until golden brown and bubbly.  Serve with ice cream or Cool Whip.

WFMW: Sending Cards

Posted in WFMW

I am not a big card sender, mostly because I hate spending $3 for a a piece of paper.  Heavy, pretty paper, but $3 is $3.  For $3 more I could get a better present.  But sometimes, you really need a card.  So I bought a lot (not as in alot, many but a lot as in a box of cards) on ebay.  They came with their envelopes.  Some I will never use, but for pennies apiece, who cares?  The kids can use them in crafts.  Now when I need a card, I just dig through my lot and find something appropriate.  Works for me!

WFMW 5 Ingredient Recipe-- Chicken Quesadillas/Key Lime PIe

Posted in WFMW

Easy Chicken Quesadillas

1/4. c salsa
1/4 c. taco seasoning
8 tortillas
2 c. cooked chicken
sour cream

Add 1/4 c salsa and 1/4 c taco seasoning to cooked chicken.  Put a buttered tortilla, the chicken mixture and cheese on a cookie sheet.  Top with another buttered tortilla.  Cook until brown and crisp.  Cut in fourths.  Serve with sour cream.

Unbelievably Easy Key Lime Pies (my kids make these)
1 -6 oz. Frozen Limeade Concentrate
1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 -8 oz. Cool Whip
2 Graham Cracker crusts
Green Food Coloring (if desired)

Mix the Limeade and the sweetened condensed milk thoroughly.  Fold in the Cool Whip.  Pour into pie shells and refrigerate until set (doesn't really take long.)

WFMW: Art Museum with Littles

Posted in WFMW

We are going to the art museum this week because Spenser needs to go to meet a requirement for his Boy Scout merit badge.  Since I have a variety of ages in my own family (plus I am babysitting this summer), this is what I do.  I go to the gift shop first when we get to the museum.  I buy a (different) postcard of a painting in the museum for each child.  They get to hunt for their picture while we browse the museum.  Sounds simple, but it is enough to keep them engaged and interested and it makes a nice souvenir to bring home afterwards.
