Easter Cookies

Evening Before Cookies

 

Ingredients

1 cup chocolate chip cookies

1 teaspoon vinegar

3 egg whites

pinch of salt

cup white sugar

1 ziploc sandwich bag

wooden spoon

tape

Bible

Preheat oven 300 F.

1. Put cup of chocolate chips in Ziploc bag. Give the children the spoon and allow them to hit the bag and smoosh the chips. Read John 19:1-3. Explain how the Roman soldiers beat Jesus after He was arrested.

2. Let each child smell & taste the vinegar. Put in mixing bowl. Read John 19:28-30. Explain how they gave Jesus the vinegar to drink. Read John 10:10-11.

3. Add egg whites to vinegar. Explain how the egg represents His life. Jesus gave His life for us.

4. Spinkle a little salt in each child's hand. Read Luke 23:27. Explain how this represents the salty tears shed by Jesus followers.

5. Add a cup of sugar to the mixture. Read Psalm 34:8 & John 3:16. Explainthe sweetest part, how Jesus died because He loves us.

6. Beat on high with mixer 12-15 minutes until stiff peaks form. Read Isaiah 1:18 & 1 John 1:9. Explain color white represents those whose sins are forgiven.

7. Mix in chocolate chips. Place small scoops on cookie sheet covered with wax paper. Read Matthew 27:57-60. Explain each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus body was placed.

8. Put cookies in oven. Close the door and shut off oven. Give each child a piece of tape and seal the oven door with tape. Read Matthew 27:57-60 & 57:65-66. Explain how this represents the tomb being sealed.

9. Go to bed. The kids may be sad to have to leave the cookies in the oven

overnight. Read John 16:19-20. Explain how Jesus followers were sad to have to leave Jesus sealed in the tomb.

10. Easter morning open oven. Give each child a cookie. When they take a bite they will notice that the cookie is hollow and empty in the middle. Read Luke 24:1-8. Explain how they found the tomb open and empty.

Easter!!!
