The Support Our Troops Committee will be at the American Legion in Jaffrey on November 10th, from 9am-noon. They invite you to join them to 'assemble care packages full of holiday cheer for our servicemen and women'.
They are accepting donations of every type and all donations are greatly appreciated. Homemade cookies, brownies and fudge are what they consider the most important things because they say "home and comfort" to those who need it so much. Also needed are personal hygiene items, IE. fragrance-free baby wipes, razors, toothbrushes, floss, bug wipes, purell, etc. Also they welcome reading material and toys but most importantly, letters of support. They will have Holiday cards and paper available for you to take a few moments to write a greeting and/ or note of appreciation.
For more information, their open letter to the community is in the Monadnock Shopper News from this week (Oct. 24-Oct. 30). Hope to see you there. We consider this an amazing opportunity to serve our community, country and most of all the men and women overseas. This is a service we can provide when there is little else we can do to give back to them and help out in some small way. As Christians and as homeschoolers, this opportunity is especially crucial. One idea may be to take up donations at your church or homeschool group to bring if you plan to come help out. The letter also explains that they will be sending out a box of food and toiletries to each of our 42 troops overseas, sending a few goodies to those soldiers stateside awaiting deployment elsewhere and they would like to get a couple of boxes to the Chaplain in Germany to distribute to our wounded warriors in recovery.
If you have a similar event happening elsewhere in New Hampshire, please email me (myhomeboyz_3@yahoo.com) and I will post the information.
