Ducklings...

One of my muscovy ducks has hatched four ducklings.  They are the most beautiful, perfect things I've ever seen.  They are so very small.  They hardly seem real.

She's very protective of her babies.  It was difficult getting these pictures.  Everywhere I stood, she placed her body between me and the ducklings.  She's teaching them to forage.  She nibbles something, squeaks, and then the babies come running to nibble it too.

Have I mentioned that I'm enjoying living in the country?

Such beauty.

Got here from a link in your post on HT. I love your blog! I will definitely be reading more. We've been in our place a year so we're going through a lot of the things you're going through. Old house, big surprises. Yours looks like it's been much better maintained than ours, though. Took us almost a year to decide if we wanted to refurbish it or raze it and build from scratch. It was a close call and we still wonder sometimes :)

Your ducklings are so beautiful!! Every spring I take my children to one of the many duck ponds near us to check out the babies! Very cute! We've seen mother ducks chasing away gulls and other ducks! Very protective mothers!
Come by for a visit anytime!

I too found you through HT. I have enjoyed reading your blog and am most envious of your new "old" home! I too live in N.E Ohio and would love to find what you did at an awesome price! and all that land with it...
I will be back to enjoy your future entries and look forward to reading more of your homesteading adventure.

What adorable ducklings!! They are so cute. I wish DH would let us get some chickens. We have the room, but we have hawks. Big ones, all over, so no chickens for us. Our little dog has to be on a lease whenever he goes out so they don't get him. What a good momma duck.

I have heard that a number of bloggers say that they enjoy living in the country. I feel that call on my heart, but I am nervous about being so far away from the shopping. Perhaps, I will get brave enough to move this year.
