Interested in becoming involved in a first-rate ALL homeschool basketball program??!!
We'd like to give you a little information about the Surry Runnin' Patriots
Basketball Program.
Since its inception in 2003, we have grown to field 6 competitive teams:
Middle School Girls and Boys (Grades 6-8) - max age eligibility 13 by Sept
1, 2009
Junior Varsity Girls and Boys (Grades 8-11) - max age eligibility 17 by Sept
1, 2009
And Varsity Girls and Boys (Grades 9-12) - max age eligibility 19 by Sept 1,
2009.
Our families last year came from Surry, Stokes, Yadkin, Forsyth and Virginia counties.
We are just now starting to gear up for this coming year, knowing it will be bigger and better than last.
Starting on June 1 & 2, there will be Girls' Basketball camps offered for $20 per player at Fountain of Life Family Life Center in Mt. Airy on US 52.
If you have a daughter (6th grade or older) who might like to participate in these camps, it's not too late to sign up.
Please contact Glenn Edwards at gmsaredwards@ yahoo.com
These camps will be led by an AAU coach from VA; younger girls will meet in the morning; older girls in the afternoon for 2 days.
We will also be holding Skills Sessions in August and September for all ages.
Open Gyms will start for Varsity teams in August with try-outs in September.
Final JV & Varsity Teams will be chosen by mid-September.
Middle School Teams will have try-outs in October with games starting after Thanksgiving.
Is keen competition not your choice, but you'd still like to be active and learning with other homeschoolers? ?
Runnin' Patriots is working toward developing a recreational component to its program for younger players and those who'd like to play just for fun.
We'd like to keep the boys' and girls' programs separated and start as young as 5 years old.
We need plenty of volunteers to make this opportunity work and keep it as inexpensive as possible.
RPHR (Runnin' Patriots Homeschool Recreation) will probably play games for 2 months in the winter (January & February) depending on interest and possibly practice and have some open gym time in
December.
We are now compiling email contact lists to keep all interested families updated as information develops.
Runnin' Patriots is also accepting applications for Coach and Assistant positions.
