Oct. 31, 2006 - For just a minute, it's all about me.

Well...I wasn't going to say anything. But it's my birthday! And it's been kind of a rough day, rough week, whatever. DH had to go to Ft. Bragg, NC on Thursday to testify at a court martial, the court martial got postponed and he's still there. He thought he'd be home for my birthday and to take the kids shopping. Even though I already ordered and received my gift from him, I still would have liked him here. He has been gone so much over the last few weeks, this unexpected trip kind of wore me out. The kids and I went out to dinner and I got knitting books from my mom, an Amazon certificate from my dad, and an iTunes card from my best friend. Not too bad!
We'll celebrate my birthday next week or whenever DH finally is home and awake. He's due to be home tomorrow. So in the last few minutes of my birthday, I present 36 things you maybe didn't know about me. One for each of my years.
1. I was born in Bethesda, Maryland.
2. I hate meatloaf.
3. I've never colored my hair.
4. I have one brother, he's 16 months older than me.
5. I have to have some kind of covers over me when I sleep, no matter how hot it is.
6. I faint easily.
7. When I was 16 I spent 3 weeks in Jamaica on a mission trip building churches and schools.
8. I sing along really loud to Meatloaf.
9. I love lima beans.
10. I like liver, too.
11. Apparently my parents called me Witchie-poo for the first year of my life.
12. My favorite TV show of all time is M*A*S*H*.
13. I have met Arnold Schwartzenegger.
14. I had my tonsils out when I was 8.
15. I don't drink coffee and never have.
16. I went ice skating once and wrenched my knee something awful and never did it again.
17. The first car I owned was a red 1991 Hyudai Scoupe.
18. I do not like my food portions to touch each other.
19. I have never smoked anything.
20. I can name all fifty states in alphabetical order in under 25 seconds.
21. I played trombone in high school marching band.
22. I wear contacts and can't see more than a few inches without them or my glasses.
23. I loved the Bobbsey Twins when I was a child.
24. I have skiied in the Italian Alps.
25. I used to write a newspaper column.
26. I have never been west of Utah.
27. I like my marshmallows burnt to a cinder.
28. My least favorite color is Orange.
29. I'm not a very good driver.
30. I'm viciously competive at board games.
31. I used to collect clocks, but the combined ticking drove me nuts.
32. I can't sleep lying on my back.
33. My senior prom dress was royal blue and I went with Mark Charest on whom I had the hugest crush.
34. I used to have a nice singing voice, but for some reason, it's pretty bad now.
35. I won't buy Snuggle fabric softener because I hate that bear.
36. And finally....I used to tell my friends that being born on Halloween meant that all the superstitions were opposite for me. Like breaking mirrors was good luck and 4 leaf clovers were bad. I totally made it all up.
Whew....glad I'm not any older! When you are 36 you are now closer to your 40s than you were to your 20s. You are a whole different age category box to check on surveys.
Time keeps moving along.

Happy Birthday! Many joyous returns of the day!
And I totally GET the whole no-touchy-touchy thing with your food. I do it, too.
Many blessings!

Hee - Hee ! Hilarious list! I feel like I know you now! I can't stand the food touching either.
I'm coming up on 35 and that just sounds so OLD and GROWN-UP. Like, you can't even fake that you're young anymore. The modern clothing styles are starting to elicit pointing and laughing rather than "What a cool mom."
Happy Birthday!

That was a fun list to read and a good idea. I hope your delayed birthday celebration is fun. I could relate to a lot of your list, except the lima beans and liver :) My husband thinks I am nuts, because at dinner I often use 2 plates or get bowls so my food doesn't touch. I need to get those cafeteria plates that have the dividers. j/k Again Happy Birthday!!!!!!

Happy Birthday, Becca! I enjoyed your list. I have to have covers on me when I sleep, too! No matter the temperature. I sure hope you make it to the knitting group on Monday. A sudden obsession has developed with the knfty knitter. I'm afraid I may have caused it. Maybe it'll pass soon.
