Nov. 25, 2008 - Kids say the cutest things!

I'm sorry that the video on my last post wouldn't work. And I was so excited for you all to see it to
I don't know why it wouldn't work, I even tried re-posting it, but, alas, to no avail.

Anyway, I was teaching Children's Church last Sunday, and thought I 'd share what some of the 3 to 5 year olds were saying. Sometimes It was hard to not crack up laughing your head off, but I suppose being the teacher, you must try to hold onto some dignity, and pray that the kids don't think you are going crazy  ( all though the behavior of 2 little girls made me want to rip my hair out)
Ok, when we first started, since I didn't know all of the kids names, I had them tell us what there names were.

It went something like this with to little girls:
Claudia: I'm Claudia and this is Vicki
Vicki: Hey! I want to tell my name!
Me: Ok, go ahead and tell us your name then.
Vicki: I'm Vicki, and I cut my hair ALL BY MYSELF!!!
Me trying not to crack up as I observed the strange looking ponytail: Well, (snicker) I'm not sure (choking on a laugh) If that was a very good idea Vicki...
Vicki: and look, I got a cut on my finger...
She shove her hand across the table so I could see her barely noticible little tiny cut.
Me: Oh, well it looks like it is healing nicely.
Claudia: And look, Sid bit my finger!
Me: Uh huh...

Then everyones sleeves or pant legs were rolled up trying to show me their latest wounds.
Me: Ok, ok everyone, we'll look at eachothers booboos later...

I was told to teach about Thanksgiving and since that is this week, so I asked the kids if they knew what it was about...
Claudia: Its when Santa Clause comes down the chimney and gives us presents!!!!
Me: Uh, no, thats Christmas. Anyone else know what it is?
Elijah: we eat pie on Thanksgiving.
Me: uh huh, Carmen, doing you know what its about.
Carmen just smiles and shrugs (he is about 3 years old and is absolutely adorable)

Then since no one actually knew, I read them the story about William Bradford and the first Thanksgiving.

A little bit later, we passed out pieces of paper and the kids drew what they were thankful for.

Audrey (my niece): How do you draw chocolate?
Eli: Like this!" and proceeded to draw on Audrey's paper
Me: Eli, draw on your own paper!

Then later the kids lined up to show us there picture, and what was on them.
Eli: I dwawed a pictow of my house, and some wain!!!
Audrey: I drew Chocolate!
Claudia: I drawed Sid, and pie!!!
Carmen: I drew turkey! 2 turkeys!
Vicki: I made a pictow of santa clause!
Chloe: I drew angels!
Brooklynn: I drew Jesus!

Later, as the kids are eating there snack.
Chloe: I'm gonna marry Eli when I grow up, but he has to ask me first.
Eli: I'm not mawwying you! I'm gonna mawwy Kwista!
Me: Eli, its not good to marry your sister.
Eli: Why?
Chloe: cause its against the law!!
Me: Uh, its says in the Bible that it isn't good to marry your sister.
Elijah: Oh yeah? I'm gonna marry my eyeball!
Eli: you can't mawwy youw eyeball!
Elijah: Then I'm gonna marry my hair!
Me thinking: Isn't it almost time for the parents to come get the kids yet?

Then I had to break up constant battles between Claudia and Vicki (sisters), and needless to say I was thankful when the parents finally came.
I don't mind teaching, its just that I'd rather not have both Claudia and Vicki both in the same class at the same time... When they are by thereselves, they are fine, but when together, they nearly constantly are disrupting the class...
Well, Thats all  I can remember, so I'll write more some other time..

P.S. I am the proud aunt of Rachel Anne, born November 14, 2008, weighing 6# 9 oz. and 20 inches long.
She was 3 weeks early, but is very healthy, and much loved by all, including her adoring older brother and sister!!

That is quite humorous, Cara! It sounds a little like the last time I babysat a large group of kids and was all ready to tie them to chairs by the end of the evening! I'm sure you're a good teacher.
