Oct. 29, 2008 - URGENT PRAYER REQUEST FOR INDIA!

There is some major persecution going on in India right now, so please keep the Christians in your prayers!
Here is the email we got concerning the events. Its long, but please read it all!

This is is a  request for prayer for YWAM missionaries and their
churches in Orissa , India .  The request came from Mable Hurst, an associate
of HCJB Global.  Please  read and make this a matter of urgent prayer.

Dear beloved sponsors and friends of Good News India .

We have never seen anything like this.   We knew that Orissa was the
most resistant and hostile State in India as far as the Gospel is concerned.
And we brushed off the con tinuous threats and harassment we faced as we went
about His work.  But none of our staff imagined that they would see this kind
of carnage.... And it seems to be totally under the radar of the Western Media
....

Let me explain.... A militant Hindu priest and 4 of his attendants,
who were zealously going around the villages of Orissa and 'reconverting'
people back to Hinduism, were gunned down by unknown assailants in Central
Orissa   last weekend.

Immediately the Christians were blamed. The cry rose up...'Kill the
Christians!'
And the horror began.... In the past 4 days, we have first hand
witness to hundreds of churches being blown up or burned and many, many dozens
of Christian tribals have been slaughtered. For no other reason than they bear
the name of Christ.

Night and day I have been in touch with our Good News India Directors
spread across 14 Dream Centers in Orissa... they are right in the middle of
all this chaos.

In Tihidi, just after the police came to offer protection, a group of
70 blood-thirsty militants came to kill our staff and destroy the home.  They
were not allowed to get in, but they did a lot of damage to our Dream Center
by throwing rocks and bricks and smashing our gate, etc.  They have promised
to come back and 'finish the job.' Our kids and staff are locked inside and
have stayed that way with doors
and windows shut for the past 3 days. It has been a time of
desperately calling on the Lord in prayer.

More police have come to offer protection.  In Kalahandi, the police
and some local sympathizers got to our dream center and gave our staff and
kids about 3 minu tes notice to vacate. No one ha d time to even grab a change
of clothes or any personal belonging. As they fled, the blood thirsty mob came
to kill everyone in the building. We would have had a mass funeral there, but
for His grace.  In Phulbani, the mob came looking for Christian homes and
missions. The local Hindu people, our neighbors turned them away by saying
that there were no Christians in this area. So they left.  We had favor. The
same thing happened in Balasore.

All our dream centers are under lock down with the kids and staff
huddled inside and police outside. The fanatics are circling outside waiting
for a chance to kill. Others were not so fortunate. In a nearby Catholic
orphanage, the mob allowed the kids to leave and locked up a Priest
and a computer teacher in  the house and burned them to death. Many believers
have been killed and hacked into pieces and left on the
road.... even women and children.  At another orphanage run by another
organization, when this began, the Director and his wife jumped on their
motorbike and simply fled, leaving all the children and staff behind. Every
one of our GNI directors that I have s poken to said: 'We stay with our
kids.... we live together or die together, but we will never abandon what God
has called us to do.' More than 5000 Christian families have had their homes
burned or destroyed. They have fled into the jungles and are living in great
fear waiting for the authorities to bring about peace. But so far, no peace is
foreseen.

This will continue for another 10 days.... supposedly the 14 day
mourning period for the slain Hindu priest. Many more Christians will die and
their houses destroyed. Many more churches will be smashed down. The Federal
government is trying to restore order and perhaps things will calm down. We
ask for your prayers. Only the Hand of God can calm this storm. None of us
know the meaning of persecution. B ut now our kids and staff know what that
means. So many of our kids coming from Hindu backgrounds are confused and
totally bewildered at what is happening around them. So many of their
guardians have fled into the jungles and ar e unable to come and get them
during these trying times.   Through all this, I am more determined than ever
to continue with our goal: the transformation of a community by transforming
its children. Orissa will be saved... that is our heart's cry. If we can take
these thousands of throw-away children and help them to become disciples of
Jesus, they will transform an entire region. It is a long term goal, but it is
strategic thinking in terms of the Great Commission.

What can you do? First, please uphold all this in fervent prayer.
Second, pass this e-mail on to as many friends as you can. We must get the
word out and increase our prayer base for this is spiritual warfare at its
most ba sic meaning. We are literally fighting the devil in order to live for
His Kingdom. The next 10 days are crucial. We pray for peace and calm to
pervade across Orissa.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please pass it on and help
us to get as many people to partner with us on this cutting edge effort to
fulfill His mandate: Go and make disciples of all nations....
        Prayer works!

Blessings,  Chip & Sandy Wanner   Col 2:2 MBI

Oct. 27, 2008 - Its that time of year again!

The time when the air becomes frigid and snow is in the air, when the time of burning and raking leaves (well, not in our case, but thats beside the point) is nearly over, when the days become shorter and with everyday that goes past it draws you one more day nearer Christmas, the time when dance practice at church starts up again for the Christmas dance/drama.  The time when you pull out the Christmas music and practice songs on the piano, guitar, or what ever instrument you happen to play. I'm I attempted Breath of Heaven on my dad's violin. Lets just say I have a ways to go on that one.The time when you start making lists of things to bake for the coming holidays, and lists of ingredients, and lists of reminders to get this or that, and...Well suffice it to say, lists start making there appearence with me at this time of year.
In fact, I have one sitting on my lap right now. It is labeled at the top "Christmas Cookie list #1" I labeled it #1 cause generally I loose the first 3 or 4. We make lots of different varieties of cookies, and Christina and I are in charge, sometimes with the help of the younger kids, and some cookies mom makes. Here is an overview of the cookies we make every year...It seems I'm leaving something out, but we'll see.
Christmas cookie list#1
  1. Butterscotch oatmeal (practically to die for)
  2. Cocoa mint wafers (good coffee dunkers)
  3. Peanut butter blossoms
  4. Ginger snaps (we make extras of those to send to servicemen over seas)
  5. Gingerbread men
  6. Sugar cookies
  7. Snickerdoodles
  8. Almond press cookies ( or as we call them Christmas tree cookies)
  9. Chocolate crack-ups
  10. Peanut butter cookies
  11. Korbehittes (spelled wrong, I know. Its a Greek cookie, flavored with a clove stuck in the middle)
  12. Chocolate chocolate mint (We just discovered this cookie last week, so we aren't sure if we'll make them)
  13. Star light sugar twists
I'm sure I'm missing something... Oh well. Now you have a glimpse of what we make every year for Christmas, starting in November. We freeze all of these too. My favorites to make are cocoa mint wafers, and gingerbread men. All though we also make gingerbread ladies and mittens

So, we will all be busy these coming weeks. And we still have yet to see snow. Two of my brothers called, and my niece talked on the phone to my mom to tell us it was snowing, yet we haven't seen a single flake.
Because of this weather, I'm not working until at least Thursday. But thats ok, I have a voice lesson tomorrow ( I switched from piano to voice lessons) and I'm getting my hair cut, so it will be nice.

Welp, I must be going, If you see any of these cookies that sound tasty to you, and you'd like to know what the recipe is just let me know and I will try and find for you!
God bless!

 Oct. 22, 2008 - I've been inspired

All of the sudden, I feel inspired. Yes, and just for that reason, I went through the templates on here to see if I could find any vintage (meaning 1940's-50's) looking templates. But to no avail. And because I'm not HTML savvy, I don't know how I would pull one off the internet. I'm just afraid that if I find something I will completely delete everything I've ever written on here. Which brought me to my second idea... I'll just make a test blog. Why I hadn't thought of that idea is beyond me. So I will make a test blog, and no one must feel obliged to read it, as it won't say anything on it but 'test'. When this will happen I don't know.

Now you may be wondering where this sudden epiphany has sprung from, so I will tell you. I visiting a home making blog, and it had a 1940's sounding song on the playlist (which I added to my own-- its called Autumn Leaves) which then made me go find that song to add to my playlist, which in turn made me want a template to match the song. And I've always loved the 40's era to begin with, so that helped.

It is a beautiful  clear blue October day, nice and cold as it should be, which would explains why my hands are cold. It really makes me in the mood for pumpkin pie come to think of it. But then it really doesn't take much for one such as myself to be in the mood for pumpkin pie.

I just remembered, I never spoke of the wedding I sang at last week. It was a beautiful wedding. We (mom, Christina, Anna and I) went to the park early to get everything set up, make the isle and decorate. It was a very cold day though, so we were kinda freezing. When all was set up, we hopped in the car and headed for a fast food joint, cause we were all starving, despite the crackers and cheese we ate while waiting for the chairs to arrive.  So we went to Wendy's and got junior bacon cheeseburgers ( I couldl have don't without the cheese though... I don't  really like most processed cheeses, especially american cheese. It tastes like plastic) and it was yummy, than we went to Arabica, and got hot caramel apple cider to warm us up.... Ohhhh.... Delight, it was sooooooooo good. Ahh... Then we went back to the park and changed shoes. I noticed when we were in Arabica that I was still wearing my plaid shoes---which wouldn't have been so bad except for that I was wearing a striped dress! LOL, they kept my feet warm, though, so I didn't really care. Plus I don't think anyone noticed. It was Friday at 12 0'clock, and there weren't many people there.
Anyway, we went back, went through a quick sound check, and chatted with the grooms grandparents, a delightful couple from England. All though he insisted he no longer had an English accent, since his been living in a America for over 50 years, he still has a very english accent. He was very interesting to talk to, as he told us about when he was a boy and how the city where he lived got bombed during the blitzing in WWII.

Anyway, I think I shall right no more, as my niece and nephew are here, and I would like to go play with them. Tata one and all!
He was sent to Wales to live in the country for a while.

Oct. 10, 2008 - My toes are numb

It was freezing earlier this morning! I was picking beans ( And I thought with great joy that I was done with that for the year) for my boss's brother, who also is an organic farmer. So my fingers are still stiff.

Anyway, I was going to post more pictures of the wedding, but photo bucket isn't working for me, so I don't know if I'll be able to. Plus I got some great Amish country pictures that I want to put up, and will need room in my photo album to do that.

It seems to me that there is starting to be a lot more weddings on Fridays than Saturdays. My sister was on a Friday, My brother was married on a Friday, today my neighbor is getting married, and next Friday a friend of ours is getting married, and Christina and I are going to sing at it. The same song that we sung for my brothers wedding.

You know, I was thinking all these great things to write during the week, but now that I finally am writing a completely forgot what it was... Isn't that how it always works? I mean my goodness, you'd think that since yesterday I'd at least remember one thing I was going to write was... As my brother Joel told my dad yesterday, they say that the  memory is the first thing that goes... To which my dad replied, 'No, thats the second thing to go. I don't remember what the first thing was.' LOL! Oh, goodness.

I'm excited... Yup. Tonights a wedding ( yummy food!) tomorrow we are going to my brothers for a bonfire (perhaps we shall roast marshmallows) and then on Thurs. we are going to have and early Thanksgiving before my sister goes back to Africa (which is more yummy food) and then Friday another day for yummy food... oh yeah, the wedding too. It shall be a pretty wedding, cause weather permitting it will be an outside wedding. And I am excited cause I'll get to see my best friend Naomi who is in Montana (Her sister Lydia is the one getting married) at a Bible college.
And hopefully sometime soon I'll get to see my other best friend, Ingrid. We have been planning on going out to eat a Paneras for about 3 months now, and it hasn't happened yet.
Then when Naomi gets back we are going to have a veggie tales marathon!lol, maybe.. I told her that when she gets back we needed to go do something crazy, to which she replied that she had a plan which included, both of us, ice cream, and veggie tales. I asked her which one and she said we'd do a marathon. And then after words I decided we are going to rent veggie tales costumes and roam the streets passing out tomatoes and cucumbers, and tell everyone the health benefits of veggies as opposed to tofu. Yeah, we are nuts.

And did I ever mention I have a bad side named Barnabus? Yup.. And Ingrid's  bad side is Bernard. Ingrid's Mom said that her name is Mertle. Now Barnabus, Bernard and Mertle don't appear very often,
generally only when we are together...Its really more of a whacky side...Christina's bad side is Barnaby.
Mhmmm, we are nuts too, but thats ok, cause other wise we would all be very boring, and only talk about sensible things, such as the weather, and current news, and how boring is that? I mean seriously, being serious ALL the time is so dull. So when whacky senses of humor clash, I can assure you that life is never dull.
 I 'm done, g'bye!

 Oct. 3, 2008 - Wedding pics

Through much difficulty, and nothing going how I planned, I have finally gotten some pictures of my brother Daniel's wedding. So for your enjoyment, I spent the last 3 hours trying to figure stuff out.
Hope you like em, and I'll try to eventually do more... Sometime when I don't feel like throwing the computer out the window.

Christina and I sang at the wedding... My mouth looks really big....

 Oct. 3, 2008 - My apologies

AHHHHHHHH! I just want to scream a little bit more---AHHHHH!!!
I'm sorry that the oictures are not up yet. I  was just getting ready to load them so I could post em, and they completely disappeared off of iphoto. I finally got time to do them today, and I spent forever uploading them... I wasn't able to load them earlier this week cause Monday- I was  gone all day .Tues. and Wed- I was sick.
Thurs- worked in the morning then was shopping all day. And so today, I got them on the computer, only to have them disappear. You know how long it takes to load almost 400 pictures? well...Lets just say it was no walk in the park. Speaking of parks, I walked in a park on Monday....
Ahg, back to to the topic at hand, My apologies for the lateness of photos, and I will get them up as soon as I possibly can.
Sorry to keep you all waiting.
    Regretfully and frustratingly yours,
CaraP.s. not that I'm regretting anything about being on here... I just thought that the would sound more dramatic than just plane frustratingly yours.

Sep. 27, 2008 - And they lived happily ever after!!!

I don't have pictures in the computer of my brothers wedding yet, but when I do I assure you I will post them.
Yesterday my brother Daniel was married to Julie and it was a gorgeous wedding. It was lots of fun, and I'm so excited to have Julie for a sister! she is from a set of triplets, and she has 2 other sisters besides her triplet sisters, and a brother, so marrying into a big family doesn't freak her out.

So the wedding was beautiful, and the bride was beautiful, the flower girls and ring bearer were adorable...
And the cake was delicious...

Right now we are "Baby sitting" Dan and Julie's puppies, Georgia and Katie. They are both darling. Katie is rather the lethargic sort and would rather be sleeping and have her head scratched than play, and Georgia is the active one who doesn't want to sleep, but only wants to play.

Welp, I must go take my shower now, hopefully I'll get to load my pictures in the computer tomorrow (I bought a memory card specifically for the wedding, and between me and my brother we took nearly 300 pictures!)
G'bye!

Sep. 20, 2008 - This could be a nameless post, but apparently I just named it.

Why on earth are they supposed to have entry names in the first place? couldn't just a little "entry #__) suffice? Nope, I don't think so either. So really I just set up the entry name so I could get into this little shpiel.

I thought that you all might like to know some facts about me. I was thinking about this the other day, and now I can't even remember what the facts were. So these answers may in fact be creative
  1. Ok Ummm...... I like to read in odd positions. Like having the recliner up, my head on where a normal person (who wants to be normal anyway?) would place there feet, my legs slung over the arm, and in a pretty much what does not look comfortable but is in fact very comfortable position.
  2. I really started this post yesterday, and am just now finishing it.
  3. I have 5 brothers and 4 sisters (yes, so you don't have to count them up, there are 10 kids in my family)
  4. I firmly believe that Funyuns are wonderful. Deep fried air with a touch of onion, mmmmmm....
  5. I like to try and write stories, but I get frustrated and want my characters to get to where I want them to be without actually explaining how they get there... Like one minute they could be at a restraunt, and the next they could be halfway to Hawaii.
  6. I used to be really good at spelling, and was several grades ahead of myself. Now I can hardly remember how to spell anything.
  7. I have discovered that Tresseme hair spray helps relieve the itching caused by poison ivy.
  8. I am a Browns fan... I love to watch football, and the Browns and Buckeyes are my favorite teams.
  9. When I was little, I used to think I had some strange disease where I could see images in the wood grain on the bathroom door...Or rather I thought that that was the only logical reason why it looks like there is a midget with a big nose and a hooded cape on the door.
  10. I LOVE to drive the trucks at work.

Well, now you know a bit about me. This is what you do when you are bored.
So next time I'm really bored  I may have another 10 interesting facts about me. However these 10 facts aren't really interesting. Sorry to have you suffer through them thinking it would get better towards the end.
And I'm also sorry that you just wasted 4 mintues of your life reading 10 pointless facts about me.

Apollogetically Yours,
      Cara

Sep. 15, 2008 - Why hasn't any body else ever thought of this?

Or maybe they have but just never acted on it.
What I mean is, why has no one ver written a book on how to not do so something? There are lots of books on how to sew, how to cook, how to tie flies, how to balance the check book, and how to understand your 1998 macintosh computer in 5 easy to read languages. But they never wrote one on how to not do something. Maybe I should! Goodness  knows I've had enough practice doing stuff the wrong way, I could write encyclopedias on how to not do something.
Like how to not bake cookies...How to not walk normaly up the stairs and fall going up (yes, I said going up) how to not understand algebra.

How to not do something is in my opinion every bit as important to know as to how to do something. You know, this is learning from other peoples honest mistakes.

So ladies and gents, in the year 2188 (no, that isn't a typo) be lookin for a book on how to not do something on your bookstores shelves! haha! I'm done.Goodbye,

 Sep. 10, 2008 - Corporal Punishment.

Ok, for an anonymous comment I got for my last post, I thought I'd clear something up. A spanking should not be considered as "Hitting" a child.I do not believe in hitting \ children. There is a big difference between a spanking, and abusing your child. Hitting a child is a random thing, and done out of anger. A spanking is (believe it or not) way differen''t because it is not done out of anger. You don't go around hitting your children to punish them. A spanking is planned out for correctional purposes only and is not done in public to humiliate them.. It is to improve a child's behavior, not to ruin their self esteem as just hitting them would. Think about it, it works best to not just scold or give your kid a time out. What lesson does that learn them? "ok, I did something naughty and I had to sit in the corner for 5 minutes as punishment" that will easily be something that they will come accustomed to, and there for not think much of it and do the same things over and over again. Don't you want them to not do something wrong again? if they know that they'll get spanked for doing something, then they most likely won't do it. If they know they'll just get a timeout, I'm sure they would be more willing to risk 5 minutes standing in a corner. Even in the Bible it says that if you spare the rod you'll spoil the child. So it is biblical to sometimes spank your child. Believe me, I had my fare share of spanking when I was younger, and I firmly believe I'm better off because of it than if I just got a scolding or a time out. I'm not saying that everytime a child does something wrong they should be spanked. I believe that a spanking should be used first as a warning. "If you do this again you'll get a meeting with 'Mr.Rod' " or something like that, and if they persist in doing it, thats when you should reach for the spoon. So, I hope that clears up any misconceptions the below reader had over my brief mentioning of spankings in the last entry.

Sep. 9, 2008 - If you actually read this, please leave me a comment.

I didn't have to work today. I was supposed to, but I got to work and it was pouring rain, and they told me I could go home. I can't say I was thrilled to hear it. I was actually looking forward to today because we would be getting things ready for the fall festival. Which I must say that aside from washing gourds in ice cold water when it is already freezing out, I love working the festival. Partly because I'm not always doing the same thing like I am during the summer. Nope, the fall festival I do all kinds of stuff, which is good cause then I don't get bored with it all. I think that my favorite thing to do at the fall festival is...Hmmm...I can't really say, as last year I did everything from stocking the store, to weighing pumpkins ( which at first is slightly back braking, but its nice cause you know if you keep doing it you build muscle strength and its good exercise). I even learned how to use the cash register. That however was not my favorite thing. I was always afraid I was doing something wrong. However, I also do love the prep work for the fest, cause that means PAINTING! And that sort of thing. Nothing is quite as boring as picking beans, which at first is enjoyable, but when they get scarce it tends to drag out longer than what seems necessary. So it gets dull after a while. Ok, enough said about work, cause I'm sure that that was painfully boring..................................... Don't you wish it was in the 1940's and '50's in some respects? like all the more wholesome and enjoyable things that there were to do. There were no video games ( a complete waste of time in my opinion), it was much easier to find entertainment outside of sitting in front of the tv all day. Or rather there was much more of a "will" to do it, because people weren't as lazy as they have become today. It also seems that children respected there parents and elders more than they do now. A good sound spanking wasn't considered child abuse as some people call it today. And trust me, a good spanking has a much better effect on children than a little scolding, or a time out. There wasn't so much yucky stuff out for people to find, clothes were modest, unlike todays girls clothes which shows more skin than actual clothing. The movies that they had then weren't so full of unnecessary garbage that todays movie writers seem to deem an essential necessity for movies now a days. I'm not saying that everything was perfect back in the 40's and 50's, cause it wasn't. But it just seems to me that if families raised there children on something other than gameboys and the television now adays, we wouldn't have some of the problems that have popped up over the last 50 years. What do you think?

 Sep. 8, 2008 - Why?

Why are people to lazy to actually read the prices on the sign at work? why do they ask you how much stuff is when you are talking to another costumer? Why can't they stay on the other side of the counter where they are supposed to? How come every single time regular costumers come, they still ask how much stuff is, and still make faces if they still don't like the prices? Why did a certain would-be costumer get angry about the price of things (even though it is a really good deal) and decide to take it out on the hired help (me)? Why do costumers assume everything is self-serve ( No, I will go find your corn for you... its my job for pities sake!) How come after some one orders a dozen ears of corn, and I after I get it for them, they dump them all out and tell me they want bigger ones (couldn't they have told me that before?) These are the questions I ask myself, as well as wondering why some people seem to assume you are deaf and have to talk with there face right in yours...Quite an uncomfortable feeling I assure you. So here is a bit of advice to you all. When you go to a farm stand to buy fresh food, be kind and tip who ever is serving you. It makes our day :D Or at least by courteous and wait your turn.. If someone is waiting on another costumer, please don't start asking questions. Especially since we at May's Farm are trying to add up the amount that the costumer owes us in our heads, since we use no cash register or calculator. If you follow this advice, you will be greatly appreciated at the local farmers market!

Sep. 1, 2008 - Ahhh! a little R&R is an amazingly wonderful and divine thing

This is the first time I haven't had to go anywhere in at least a month!!! I stayed in bed until an unheard of hour ( I was reading though, so I wasn't that lazy...) and now for breakfast..or lunch-- I am sitting before the computer screen nibling on a candy necklace...which is rather gross actually, and I'm thinking of pawning it off to one of my younger siblings...Its also about to choke me... Who made the strings so short on these things anyway? >>>>>>>>> So I admit to being extra lazy this morning, and I may just possibly end up going somewhere. Walmart..How many times have I said that I'm going to walmart? I cannot count the times. But this would be for a reeaaalllyy good reason. I'm going to get paint to paint my bedroom. I figure that having it be painted the same color for the past decade( it literally hasn't been painted in at least the last decade) it was time for a change. So instead of the pale yellowish color with a border of pansies (I think thats what they are) it shall be a lovely purpley color. I'm in this complete room make-over mood. So after painting my room, I'm going to make a new quilt for my bed, and possibly some curtains for my currently curtainless window (trying saying that ten times fast!). Never mind the fact that I can't remember how to put the bobbins in the sewing machine, and I haven't used one in 5 years cause I have had nothing to sew. But hey, what do you think big sisters are for? if not for annoying, I'd say going to for help would be the number one thing...JUST KIDDING!!! Wow, that last sentence makes me sound awful. I'm not really. Honestly, it just sorta popped out. The thought occurred and I thought I would share it with you. Thats all. Nothing else. Zero. Zilch. Nada. >>>>>>>On another note, we are having the most bee-u-tee-ful weather at this moment. A far cry from me nearly freezing to death at work last week. Ok, it wasn't that bad, but I was still cold wearing a t-shirt, a longsleeved shirt, and a hooded sweatshirt. Then the day I finally remembered to bring a jacket, it got really warm out. Isn't that how it always works? come prepared, and your carefully thought out planning is useless, cause what ever you planned for fell through the cracks? Oh well, I think I'll let you all go, as this blog post really had nothing to do with anything in particular. Oh yes! Happy Labor Day!!! And my condolences to anyone who has a job and had to work today.

 Aug. 30, 2008 - So terribly sorry

I know I have promised fair pictures, but I put all the pictures on a disc, and then I deleted most of them off my camera. And now the computer won't read the disc that all the pictures are on. Whoever said technology was a wonderful thing obviously didn't ever use our computer....... Even though as of right now there are no pictures to accompany this post, i shall tell you about our fair week. On Tuesday was the first day, and my cousins and Omama came. Christina and our cousin Megan and I walked around and went for a ride on the Ferris Wheel! And I took some amazing pictures, that unfortunately you shall be unable to view as of now. Wednesday was rabbit judging, and my youngest siblings ( Sam and Andrea) showed rabbits. Sammy got 5th place with his, and Andrea got best of variety with hers. It was also Karioki night at the gazebo, and for the first time ever Christina and I sang. It went ok, although we didn't know we were supposed to be singing yet until half way through the first verse...Oops:-) Thursday was Market poultry judging! we did very well! Andrea got Grand Champion and 5th place, My brother Joel got 2nd place, and I got 3rd. very nicely done indeed. Friday ummm.... Oh yeah, my grandparents came on Friday! we got to spend the afternoon with them, which was lovely! Saturday was the auction day for market animals. Prices were way up this year! no turkey was sold for under a hundred dollars! last year the average price for a market duck was about 35-40$ this year the average price was $75! and our grand champion duck got $300. All together we made $800 dollars selling 8 ducks. Sunday was the very last day, and my dad, two brothers, and Christina and I all went to see the Rough Trucks! that is where people take old trucks are vans and race them around a track over jumps and stuff. I got some nice air-born pictures of some truck s flying over the last jump on the course! Also after that we walked around, and then at 8:00 we started loading auction animals. At 9:00 (pm) we started tear down, where we unload the animals, clean the pens, cleaning and packing up the entire barn. It takes a while, and about 70 to 100 people help with it, although not all at the same time. Then we went home, and I got to sleep in my own bed for the first time in a week (I fell right to sleep, I can tell you) and them Monday morning our regular week started. The End. Ok, since our absence at the fair, our garden outside has taken on quite an abundance of weeds, and quite resembles an overgrown abandoned house...well yard. and we are to go out and clean it. Oh joy. What fun. But you know, it is a whole lot nicer than weeding an entire field. In the course of 3 hours... so this shouldn't take long. Ok toodle-loo! Cara

 Aug. 18, 2008 - I want a bloomin' onion and tex's lemonade please.

FAIR FOOD! FAIR STUFF! CAMPING! THE AUCTION! Have you figured out that I am totally and completely excited about the fair? About the title, I really want a bloomin' onion. And there is no lemonade better that tex's, even if it has about 1/4 cup of sugar in....................... So this morning we got this system worked out about choosing our ducks. I wrote out this chart where stuff was judged between 7 and 10. A boy a boy, do we have some nice ducks!!! all except two or 7 lbs. and over. The average weight for a duck is probably about 6.5 My dear friend Naomi is going thru fair withdrawl ( she usually takes chickens, steer, and pigs) so she came over at 7:30 this morning to help us get our ducks weighed and stuff. She is a hoot. We also put her in charge of 3 different cameras (4 counting her own) so she could take pictures of out effort. Very nice pictures they were indeed! I'll try and put some up after the fair. Well, fare well to you all for a week, please keep our family in your prayers this week, and umm... Yeah, thats it. I'm done. I'm hungry. I'm thirsty. Well, drat, I'd say I'm just about everything. Tata! Cara
