Friday, April 04, 2008 Why ColmanBlue?? Current mood: calm Category: Music One of the first things people have been asking me when I tell them our name is Colman Blue is "where did you get that from?". It's actually pretty crazy, but totally God. We were sitting up in my studio and talking about "business stuff". We wanted to start telling people about our group but it was hard to do that without a name. So we sat there for a moment and out of nowhere (I promise) I said "what about something like Colman Blue?" Kelli asked what it meant and I said...."I don't know- let's look it up!" So we researched the name and found out that Colman acutually is another word for dove. After looking up dove and seeing that it is used as a symbol of innocence, gentleness, tenderness, and peace, we knew that we were on to something! After that we thought about "Blue" and knew that it symbolized water. We realized then that the name Colman Blue had a Biblical meaning. Mark 1:9-11- At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased." After reading this passage, we knew that Colman Blue was our name. Why? I believe it was completely God inspired. It surely wasn't anything I came up with on my own! It is our prayer that our music will wash over people and refresh their spirits. We pray that it will invoke tenderness, gentleness and peacefulness and ultimately bring people into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. So that's where the name came from. You all are the first to know! Thanks for listening! Chrissy |
