Well, We are on the downhill slide with the flu. I'm still sick, but Daddy and dd are feeling some better. Other dd and ds are both doing well. Hopefully in the next couple of days we'll all be past the slump and be happy little nuts once again. I'm looking forward to getting back to schooling when we're all healthy again. I've already been looking over some interesting curriculum. We might be trying new stuff again next year. So far we have found a few definite dislikes in our Journey. Saxon math is not for us and SOS is definitely not for us. Both are wonderful tools, they just really fit us about as well as stuffing shoes on an ostrich. We had our ups and downs with SOS, and during the ups we loved it. But as time progressed there were just way more downs and that made for very unhappy nuts all around. I've been looking into Teaching Textbooks for next year. It looks very interesting to me. And I think we'll continue with the unit studies for Social Studies and Science when I can get myself in gear again. They do seem to be working really well. The kiddos enjoy them and I do too when I'm not overwhelmed. We're using www.time4learning.com right now for part of our schooling. I like it pretty well, although at times it does need a bit of supplement, especially in the Science and Social Studies categories for the younger kiddos. But overall, the children adore it. They absolutely love it and they do learn with it so we are all content. We use a very much so if it doesn't make us happy, we should be trying something different approach to schooling. And right now, this is what makes us all happy. They dig it, I'm comfortable with it so we're just gonna keep on keeping on for now. Btw, does anyone know of any good field trips revolving around astronomy near East Tennessee? Ya'll have a wonderful night! And keep safe from the nast flu bug :) |
