Hey there NHM!
I don't think that there are Coincidences. As "trite" as it may sound, I believe that God has a reason for everything....even what we percieve as "bad" things.
If the world were always bright and shiney, with no darkness or shades of color, all you would see is light. Like at the north pole...all white and shiney,and bright....soon you get "snow blindness" and see nothing....but BRight light.
I see God as this Bright Light. We can't look directly at His greatness as it would be too much for us.
So, we have dark times, and great times, and colorful times....all which cause us to see what He wants us to see, and go on His path.
So, Please keep praying, for only in Giving of ourselves can we get close to God and His greatness!
