The More We Give, The More We Have

Homeschooling is horrible...really? I don't agree!

Not too long ago my family and I went to a graduation for one of my cousins who was graduating. She wasn't homeschooled, but, we were invited to go to the graduated, of course we would go.

When we were sitting watching the graduates stand up and get their diplomas, they called out a girl in the audience, she had graduated that year as well, the speaker announced that she had been homeschooled, but, they thought it would be nice to give her a diploma as well.

Well, I was sitting next to -most likely- a middle aged woman, and, as the homeschooling graduate was coming off of the stage the woman next to me scoffed, I glanced over and I noticed she nudged a woman sitting on the opposite side of her, she said to the woman

"Can you imagine being homeschooled? How horrible! Being around your family so much! Never getting moments peace, and having to deal with your mom all day long! When would you get out and have a life?"

Well, as some of you might imagine, I was quite surprised at this womans closed mindedness to homeschooling!  I'm not acting that I don't know that there are people out there who don't agree with homeschooling, but to have such a harsh opinion. For me, it's far from horrible, I am so very thankful that I am homeschooled! I love being around my family, and, I also pondered this: 'having to deal with your mom all day long'. What do you mean 'deal'? I thought, I know that some kids have trouble with their parents, but, how -in my opinion- mean to act as thought living with your parents and family is a punishment!

Also, as a homeschooler I do not feel as though I don't have a life, as a matter of a fact, I think I have a very good social life, I am able to have friends over and hang out and talk more often than most public shooled children, you have much more time, your not at school all day, and when your done schooling, you don't have more school to do (homework)

Anyway, I just thought of that and was quite shocked and thought I would share...

I'll try to keep up

Hello Everyone,

I started this blog because my little sister, Kacey, www.homeschoolblogger.com/InMyEyes , told me that this was a really neat place to blog. She just started yesterday I believe, and now I'm starting today! lol! I'm 17 years old, and I have 5 brothers, and 3 sisters. (9 children in all, including me) We are unschoolers. All of the children older than me (2 boys, 1 girl) are finished with 'school' and 2 of them are moved out. Brianna has been married for two years and she is 22. Matthew is moved out and going to college. Jedd is 19 but he's still at home. I come next, after me is my best friend and sister, (whom I also share a room with) Kacey, 15. Jacob is 14, but will soon be 15 in July. Lailie is 12 years old, turning 13 in August. Nathan is 9 years old, and Timothy is 6.

I think that's all for now, sorry if this was really long and boring. That's basically the jist of my family. Well, my father has his own business of making sheds, that's about all.
