Welcome One and All!!!!

Thank you for looking at this, as I am still new at setting all of this stuff up and hope to get better as time goes on. This is set up to help new homeschoolers get ideas and support from veteren homeschoolers and vise versa. So, if any one who has been educating at home for a while would like to share what a typical day is like for you and your child(ren) that would be helpful, along with some of your favorite activities and crafts.

Just today we purchased addition flash cards for my 6 year old to help her w/ her confidence in knowing the answers....well her brother (4) wanted to help....at first she didnt want him to until she realized that he had fingers she could use...so for instance the card w/ 7 + 8 came up....she had him hold up 8 fingers and she held up 7 and then counted them all.... I just thought it was cute and ingenious...plus he picked up on a few of them as well...two birds w/ one stone so to speak :)
Looking Good!

Your blog is looking good. It will come together!
Nature walks as often as possible. One of the drawbacks to homeschooling is we just don't get outside enough. We need to get the kids out and allow them to explore God's creation. My children have nature walk supplies. Sketch book, colored pencils, magnafying glass (The Dollar Tree had some cute ones that were the shape of animals) and a backpack to carry the stuff in. I also like to fix a thermos of hot chocolate in the winter and lemonaide in the summer for them and I make up a batch of train mix, to put their backpacks as well.
If you live in the country, then you have lots of room to explore. If you live in town, check your area out and see if there is a State Park of some sort that would be a nice hang out at least once a week. Otherwise, explore your neighborhood and local park.

You've come to the right place to find answers about homeschooling! So glad you are blogging here at HSB. Have you tried random blogging yet? It's a great way to get a peek into other homeschoolers' homes and hear about what does (or doesn't) work for them. Happy blogging.

The outdoor hikes is a great idea. We have several trails around here as well as Metro Parks that have great trails. That would be a great science/nature activity!
We pulled my son from preschool today (mostly so we didnt have to pay for the whole month of December) and he loved it...we worked on his name and then some shapes and colors and played ISpy w/ colors around the house :-) It is MAYBE 30 degrees outside...so we will be staying in today :)

You posted a couple of comments to my blog, and I wanted to say hi! About a homeschool group, I used to belong to HUG, but didn't join this year. My church started a homeschool group and co-op so we've been part of that the last couple of years. HUG is a good group though!
I'm not sure where you're at in Huber, but there is a wonderful group in Miami county that I used to be a part of. If you'd like further info on them, let me know. You can email me at stick2home4school@yahoo.com
Blessings,
Amy
