I am in the market for good cookie recipes.....
Posted on Dec. 16, 2005
Does anyone have a favorite cookie recipe that they either got from a cookbook or was a family favorite or something that they just threw together and created on their own? Something different from the typical chocolate chip or sugar cookie. I am trying to get into the swing of baking and I figured if it was cookies the kids would be more willing to help. They enjoy helping w/ supper sometimes but it is usually followed by "I will help you, but do we have to eat it?"

At my main blog, I have several cookie recipes that I'm putting in our tins for gifts. You might see something you like there.

This was my favorite cookie as a child - and still is!
1 cup butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp. water
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 cups finely chopped pecans
Powdered Sugar
Cream butter and sugar; add 2 teaspoons water and vanilla; mix well.
Blend in flour and nuts; chill well.
Shape into balls.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes.
Remove from pan; cool slightly.
Roll in powdered (confectioners) sugar
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
