Dec. 11, 2008 - Time 4 Learning 2nd Entry

I am back again to tell you some more about Time 4 Learning a great site for students to use to either use as a sole curriculum or as a way to brush up on skills. If you didn't catch my 1st post regarding Time 4 Learning you can read it here.
This post is to make sure that I cover things that I didn't cover in my 1st post regarding the website and educational use of Time 4 Learning. Again to re-emphasize the sign up process was very easy as was the questions to make sure the children are at the right level for where they are in learning. Hannah was given the oppurtunity to do K, 1st and 2nd grade work and this includes language arts, math, science (grades 1 and 2), social studies (grades 2 and 3) and language art extensions. Bethanne is doing the K and 1st level which involves language arts, math and playbox theme time.
Time 4 Learning has a parent's forum that parent's can use to ask questions about homeschooling, Time 4 Learning, other discussions, grade level, Christian area as well as an area for using Time 4 Learning during the summer. When you log in to the parent's section you can view lesson plans based on grade as well as print off lesson plans and course descriptions for your own use. When your child is actually in a lesson some lessons have a resource which if clicked on will take you to a PDF file that you can then print out or save to your computer for further practice. This is a great way to go over facts that aren't being retained or are just hard to understand.
If you are wondering about the Playbox Theme Time that I mentioned above it's a cute monthly based theme on which are little bits of learning based on the month and it goes from September to July. So if Bethanne clicks on December it will open up a new box that gives us Numbers, Celebrate, Winter, Neighbors and Time and then if you click on those it will give you even more choices within each of those to have fun with. There are ebooks for them to read, a paintbox and a couple other lessons.
You can choose the amount of time your child spends on their lessons and then give them time to play on the playground, which are just some other fun educational games that the child can play before returning to their lessons. The child cannot access the playground unless they have done the time of lessons you have planned. So if I put the parent setting at 15 minutes for lessons, Hannah or Bethanne would have to spend 15 minutes (no less, but can do more) doing lessons before having time (which can also be set by the parent) on the playground.
Overall Time 4 Learning is a great online educational site to use. I will admit it has come in handy for when I am not feeling well, I can log Hannah or Bethanne in and know that even if I am not teaching that they can still be learning something for the day. Often times Hannah begs to get on even after we have finished our 'regular' school or wants to continue on long after I have told her she can log off.
The cost for Time 4 Learning is:
- $19.95 a month for the first child
- add a 2nd child for $14.95 a month
- there is a 14 day money back guarantee
- a complete math and language arts programs, some upper grades get the science and social studies prorgams as well.
There are lesson demos at the site so if you want to check it out for yourself that seems a good way to do so. It really is fun, even I have learned some things that I hadn't learned in school or had promptly forgotten.
