OK Mozart Festival - Bartlesville
OK MOZART celebrates its 22nd Season and Mozart's 250th Birthday with a free outdoor party. Live entertainment, strolling musicians and fireworks. June 9 - 17. This is a lot of fun!
Here are some of the events:
- Basket Weaving - Participants will make small baskets similar to the Cherokee baskets of long ago
- Cherokee Avenue Walk - Learn about the lives of oil pioneers and other prominent leaders of early Bartlesville and their contributions to Bartlesville's history on this special guided tour outside the grand old homes of Cherokee Avenue.
- Chess for Kids - Learn to play chess, the King of Games!
- Cowgirls of the Wild West Shows - Hear Cowgirls' stories of Wild West Shows (1887-1920) with costumed historical performer Deborah Langley.
- Frybread Making - Learn how to make your own traditional Indian frybread while hearing stories about the breadmaking scene
- Great Soap Robbery - Shoot-out at high noon - with real "bad dudes" at the downtown Red Dirt Soap Company. Sarsaparilla and sugar cookies will be on sale where the bad dudes are shot.
- Kindermusik - Adventures Around the World - Your child delights in the fun of this nationally-franchised arts education program incorporating songs, instruments, movement, crafts and dramatic play
- Little Princess Tea - Treat your daughter like a princess. Ta Da! dresses her in finery complete with boa and tiara. You and your princess will enjoy a high society tea including sandwiches, desserts, seasonal flavored tea and cranberry spritzers. Great for mothers and girls 12 & under.
- Mozart & Friends - Mozart himself will be playing the harpsichord and answering questions about his life
- Pioneer School Demonstration - A typical 1910 curriculum at the Nelson Carr School included spelling, arithmetic and penmanship. Schools of this era were often "subscription" schools, meaning students paid a nominal fee to attend class.
