Contests for Homeschoolers in OK
The State Department of Education, State
Department of Labor, and the Parks and Recreation Departments are
working together to host the 2nd annual Playground Safety Awareness
Poster Contest for K-6 Oklahoma students. Last year my daughter,
Brooke, was the only homeschooler to enter. She placed 1st in her
age catagory, so I was asked to help let other homeschoolers know about
the contest this year. The award ceramony was at the State
Capital where the winning posters were on display for a week, they met
and got their picture taken with Gov. Henry, had a calendar made from
their posters, and received savings bonds (ranging from $25-$1000) as
prizes. This year the posters must be in by March 31. The full
contest rules are at the Labor Dept. website, http://www.labor.ok.gov/news/photos/newsphotos20051024.htm. You can download last years calendar, get this years contest rules, or view last year's winners.
* OERB has a poster contest for 3rd-6th graders. Info for that contest is on the 2nd page of their newsletter, http://www.oerb.com/downloads/ProgressReports/classified/2006classified.pdf.
* Oklahoma Council on Economic Education is having a poster contest,
Drawing for Dollars to highlight an economic or money management
concept. The contest rules are at: http://www.ocee-ok.org/drawingfordollarsad.pdf
