Explore History Via Literature - Bartlesville

Bartlesville Christian Home Educators Fellowship History Fair: EXPLORE HISTORY via LITERATURE. Friday, August 11, 2006, 9:30 am- 4:30 pm, at Oklahoma Wesleyan University, 2201 Silver Lake Rd, Bartlesville, in the Chapel Fine Arts Building. You will see student displays, a living wax museum, local authors, re-enactors, a car show, and our special guest, Margie Gray, author of several literature unit studies, including The Prairie Primer (Little House on the Prairie), Further Up and Further In (Chronicles of Narnia), and Where the Brook and River Meet (Anne of Green Gables). Beauty and the Beast - Bartlesville

Children's Musical Theatre of Bartlesville presents Beauty and the Beast, July 13, 2006, 7:30 pm. at Bartlesville Community Center. The most beautiful love story ever told is coming to the Bartlesville Community Center stage! This classic fairy tale, presented by Children's Musical Theatre, will dazzle you like no other. The story of Belle, a young woman in a provential town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in an evil spell, is a "tale as old as time". Until the Beast learns to love and be loved, he can't be transformed to his former self. 2006 OK MOZART Workshops-Bartlesville

Students in grades 7 through college are invited to apply for the 2006 OK MOZART Internationa Festival's Music Workshops held during the Festival’s 22nd Season, June 9-17, 2006. The workshops will take place on Wednesday, June 14, from 2:30 to 4:30pm, in the Bartlesville High School Fine Arts Center. Classes will be divided by instrument, and these include: Oboe, Flute, French Horn, Trumpet, and Percussion. Participation is limited to 20 students per class. These workshops are virtually free ($10 application fee) and are led by members of our resident orchestra - Amici New York. Deadline is Monday, May 22nd. OK Mozart Festival - Bartlesville

OK MOZART celebrates its 22nd Season and Mozart's 250th Birthday with a free outdoor party. Live entertainment, strolling musicians and fireworks. June 9 - 17. This is a lot of fun!

Here are some of the events:
  1. Basket Weaving - Participants will make small baskets similar to the Cherokee baskets of long ago
  2. Cherokee Avenue Walk - Learn about the lives of oil pioneers and other prominent leaders of early Bartlesville and their contributions to Bartlesville's history on this special guided tour outside the grand old homes of Cherokee Avenue.
  3. Chess for Kids - Learn to play chess, the King of Games!
  4. Cowgirls of the Wild West Shows - Hear Cowgirls' stories of Wild West Shows (1887-1920) with costumed historical performer Deborah Langley.
  5. Frybread Making - Learn how to make your own  traditional Indian frybread while hearing stories about the breadmaking scene
  6. Great Soap Robbery - Shoot-out at high noon - with real "bad dudes" at the downtown Red Dirt Soap Company. Sarsaparilla and sugar cookies will be on sale where the bad dudes are shot.
  7. Kindermusik - Adventures Around the World - Your child delights in the fun of this nationally-franchised arts education program incorporating songs, instruments, movement, crafts and dramatic play
  8. Little Princess Tea - Treat your daughter like a princess. Ta Da! dresses her in finery complete with boa and tiara. You and your princess will enjoy a high society tea including sandwiches, desserts, seasonal flavored tea and cranberry spritzers. Great for mothers and girls 12 & under.
  9. Mozart & Friends - Mozart himself will be playing the harpsichord and answering questions about his life
  10. Pioneer School Demonstration - A typical 1910 curriculum at the Nelson Carr School included spelling, arithmetic and penmanship. Schools of this era were often "subscription" schools, meaning students paid a nominal fee to attend class.

Sunfest - OK's Biggest Outdoor PIcnic - Bartlesville

Oklahoma’s Biggest Outdoor Picnic” returns for a long weekend on June 2-3-4, 2006, with a relaxed, family picnic, quality, cost-free entertainment, arts and crafts, supervised activities for children, terrific food, and an eye-popping car show. This event will be held in Sooner Park, located at Madison Boulevard and Tuxedo Avenue in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Music will include jazz, rhythm and blues, rock, bluegrass, contemporary Christian, and original music variations. Activities include Jupiter Jump, Duck Pond, Fish Pond, First Aid, Marble Painting, Face Painting, Kite Making, Necklace Making, Mask Decorating, and Bean Bag Toss.

Woolaroc Mountain Man Camp: a History Lesson. 10/01/2005, Sat. 8:00 - 10:00 am. Open you history books to the pre-Civil War era of the Osage Hills. Walk back in time with over 50 camps of tents and tepees demonstrating the lifestyle of the pre-Civil War era of the 1840's. Smell the food being prepared over open fires, visit an actual tepee, throw a tomahawk, and fire a black-powder rifle. Meet at the Mountain Man Camp just as the sun is emerging over the Osage Hills to learn what life was like in that time period. *Enjoy refreshments -coffee, juice and Woolaroc cinnamon rolls!

Cow Thieves & Outlaws Reunion - Woolaroc

Woolaroc's Cow Thieves and Outlaws Reunion. 10/01/2005 - 10/01/2005, Sat. A re-enactment of the colorful parties that Frank Phillips held at Woolaroc from 1926 to 1931. An annual fundraising event held in the spirit of the old days. Guests are encouraged to wear western or oil field attire.
