TomSawyer at the Broken Arrow Community Playhouse

The Broken Arrow Community Playhouse is proud to present “Tom Sawyer” Directed by Jana Ellis and musical direction by Martha Barrett. Mark Twain’s wonderful story of life along the Mississippi comes to vivid life in this musical adaptation of the original. Tom is often in trouble, aided by the local misfit, Huck Finn. Much to the dismay of his ever-so-proper Aunt Polly. Even falling in love with the sweet Becky Thatcher can’t seem to calm him down or keep him from fence painting adventures or eerie visits to the cemetary. A rip roaring tale with toe-tapping songs and dances, and characters that will never be forgotten. Great for audiences of all ages.

Performances dates are December 2,3, 8,9,10 at 8:00 PM and Sunday matinee December 11, at 2:00 PM. Ticket prices are 12.00 for adults, 9.00 for seniors (60 and older) 8.00 Students and 5.00 for children(12 and younger). Reservations for this production may be made by calling the BACP boxoffice at 918-258-0077. Boxoffice hours are Monday – Friday 9:00 AM- Noon. The BACP is located in The Main Place at 1800 S Main Broken Arrow in downtown Broken Arrow.

Deck the Halls Historical Home Tour - Broken Arrow

The gracious home of G. A Brown, founder of Arkansas Valley State Bank of Broken Arrow, is being presented to the community in a festive holiday open house by Brown’s granddaughter, Barbara Kimbrough and the Broken Arrow Historical Society. The elegant two-story white frame and brick home is located at 219 East Dallas Street and is recognizable by anyone who has lived in Broken Arrow for any length of time. Mr. Brown built the home about the same time he opened the bank in the brand new community of Broken Arrow, Indian Territory, in 1905.

The proceeds of the open house-tour will benefit the Broken Arrow Historical Society, which is raising funds for exhibits in its new facility. The new museum will be constructed at the corner of El Paso and Main on land donated by Arkansas Valley State Bank. Groundbreaking for the 9,000 square foot museum will take place in the second half of 2006.

Local florists are hard at work designing Christmas garlands, and all types of holiday decorative items that will adorn the home for the holiday tours and which will be for sale during the event. Visitors will enjoy Christmas music and can purchase home-baked goodies during their tour.

The open house-tour is scheduled for Sunday, November 27 and Sunday, December 4, from 1 to 5 p.m. each afternoon. Admission is $5 per person at the door.
