Jun. 26, 2007 - A new school year has begun....
I like to homeschool year round. It just works great for our family because it gives us the opportunity to take breaks when we really need them. We enjoy a week in August for family camp, several weeks in December (last year it was the entire month
We've taken the last month off. I needed a chance to regroup. 1g9 is 'academically challenged' - we struggle with dyslexia, auditory processing issues and speech problems. I tend to get frustrated. However, I noticed today that she has made tremendous progress - thank you Lord \o/ So, here is our plan for her for the summer:
- Reading: Christian Light readers - gr. 2
- Phonics: A Workbook for Dyslexics (*excellent* book - provides a strong basis in phonics for those struggling with dyslexia)
- Spelling: AVCO sequential spelling - gr 2
Then, we'll pick up in September where we left off in her ACE paces (3rd grade). I haven't decided on Science and History curriculum but it'll be something we can do with all three girls.
2&3g5 will be going through Teach Your Child To Read in 100 Easy Lessons this summer. They are picking up very quickly on their letter sounds. I do have the A Beka K curriculum for them but they just turned 5 on 6/1 so I'm going to hold off a few months (probably September) to start that.
I'm itching to get my hands on Teri Maxwell's books Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit and Managers of Their Homes. Just praying in the money :-)
And if I could ask for prayer, the Lord has provided a way for us to finance going back to the fertility specialist. We really need wisdom as to whether or not this is the Lord's will. it would mean borrowing the money AND risking multiples again. So, pray for direction with us please. Thanks so much.
Have a blessed night and thanks for visiting me!

I hope your new school year gets off to a great start!
And I pray that you would really hear from the Lord as to His will in the fertility issue. Try to follow your husband's lead, as we women can tend to spiritualize our own wants and desires something fierce...
In the meantime, enjoy the ones you have! Children are such a blessing-

We like year round too. It sounds like your "regrouping" time was profitable! And rejoicing at the progress you are seeing amid learning challenges! That is great!

Your site is looking wonderful!
Start with using the 100 lesson's now.We did that with our son through summer last year. The rewards are awesome too. I took 20 min a day as the book stated, it works. I hope this feed back helps.
