Fall leaves

I was just wondering....................is it ok for children to rake up all the fall leaves and place them in big piles and...............then...............mom and dad jump and fall backwards in them?

What about dad grabbing mom and dancing around the grass and leaves like 4 year olds and ..............well....................then...kissing her passionately there in the front lawn for all the world to see? Then chasing around your teenagers to kiss them and tell them how much you love them. Grabbing the little ones and throwing them into piles of leaves?

Is this all ok or just a little too silly??

What in the world is this family coming too? Crazy folk......really!

Been Away

I have not bloged for sometime. I have been out of town. My brother-n-law had a seizure that lasted 3 hours....he is much better and had a med. change. My Aunt has passed away with a 2 1/2 year struggle with Ovarian Cancer.  After the funeral Yesterday my grandfather had a minor heart attack. He has a rare blood disorder that already makes his blood thin...so things got kinda sticky there.  My mom had a problem and because of her problem, my dad had a problem. So I may be gone for a bit trying help to take care of things.

My dad had asked why did or does God allow such sufferings for good people. I think one answer might be that we live in a cursed world. Bad things happen here.  The way we live our life...life styles. We can be the best person in the world, but if we don't take care of our body properly....our body will get sick. Another thing is the foods we eat. There are so many cancer making junk that are in our food. Pesticides. Pesticides are in everything, just about all the fruite and veggies we eat...unless home grown or something Oraganicly grown. Grain....our breads have been manipulated so that it is barely bread. All the hormones they give our animals...... we eat all them lovely unwatned hormones. The grain and grass have been treated so that when the animals eat thier treated food, it goes into their already treated body and then we consume it. People are now drinking more water, however drinking the water out of plastic bottles are making people sick. Food being stored in plastic containers are making people develope certain kinds of cancers. Junk food.....well now this is something to bring longevity to your life. Lack of exercise or exercising in the smog filled air. Pollutions in the air, water, and food can make a body very, very sick. Certain shampoos, toothpaste, electric blankets, hair dryers, cell phones, cordless phones, deodorants, soaps, lotions....all have some sort of cancer promoting somthing or other, the list goes on and on. Then we sit back and ask why God did this to us....He did nothing..WE did it. God never promised us a rosey, blissfull life with never a problem. He did however show us how to live a much healthier, happier life and we chose to ignore it. But one day............one day for those of us who Believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for our sins,  and believing we are a sinner in need of a Savior, and that Jesus is that Savior and if we call upon him and asking him for forgiveness and accepting Christ's free gift of eternal salvation..then one day we will then never have to worry and truly have the peace and happiness that we are so looking forward to. Until then we live in a sin filled, cursed world and with that comes sickness.........so it is up to us to educate and live the best way we can live tell God calls us home. Take Care and God Bless.

Modesty

Just got back from the fabric store.

Modesty....seems to be an old word...ancient to some.  I am so tired of going into Wal Mart and looking at adorable dresses for my girls and look at the size......the highest size these modest dresses go to is 6. Hem.....I look and look. After size 6, the clothes are not at all suitable for young ladies. I ask someone. Nope...this is what I have to choose from for my girls. So I leave very irritated. I go to Target...same thing. JC Penny...there is more of a selection there, but on the pricier side. Sears, Kohls(can't remember spelling). Same thing all over. Ya know...I really don't think I am asking a lot. I would like some modest dresses that go to the knee or lower. In warm and cool fabrics. Modest blouses....simple, plain modest blouses for the warm and cool weather.  Cotton split skirts for the girls to wear in the summer time.  If I could figure this whole blog thing out..I would have links .

What has happened to us?

Know ye knot that ye are the temple of God, and that the spririt of God  dwelleth in you?

If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God distroy: for the temple of God is Holy, which temple ye are.

Let no man deceive himself.  If any man amoung you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.

For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

Therefore let no man glory in men.

Been Busy

We have been oh so busy here latley.  We have been trying to re-model our basement and update the rest of the house.  Both of my older two boys want to graduate early so I have been getting them all their study material. Music school has gotten very busy, so has our wallet.  I can't seem to find an investment property for some family friends. Most of the homes we have looked at need new tresses. They are the main boards or beams that support the floors. Keep the house from falling or sagging..always something. We have a terminally ill Aunt that lives back in California so we have been discussing when the best time to get back there will be to help my cousin, my mother, my grandparents. It has been kinda crazy.

We are trying to study up on world history, American History and current events along with the childrens other work.  I am looking forward to a little break.

Well, gotta get back to schooling. Have a great day!

Blessings

Pam

Another Day

May I have a pitty party? I don't know why it is........but it always is. We will be having amazing days with the children learning and loving to learn. Obediant, helpfull children full of yes mams and no mams. Thankfull children who just yesterday my 15 year old told me that he hopes he marries someone like me.............then today..................Well I had to remind him... oh I don't know 894578935784957389 times today to unload the dishwasher and to vaccume the upstairs. One of my 10 year olds, Lord Bless her.....absent minded! Oh my goodness. Following her around as she walks around like some kind of zombie. My other teenager..........all and I mean all of his school work was about half completed and felt like I was just upset all day. Another child.......another absent minded one. Ya know that verse that says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord? Well, what happens when you are absent from your mind?! I think my husband and I told him I think about 48752897299999.9 times to take these trash bags  out to the curb. My other 10 year old was being a tatle-tale and took great pleasure in running to me every second of the day telling me who and what everyone was doing.  The youngest ate some of his work just to see what it would taste like. UG!!  So tonight when we are getting ready for bed my oldest comes to me....."Mom, is everything ok...you seemd stressed today."

I wanted to jump off the roof....but I did'nt. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day! Hope everybody else had a much better day.

Fall Crafts

We are getting school work done, however...All I keep thinking about is Fall Crafts.  It is very "Fallish" outside. It smells "Fallish".  I can't even seem to focus on this Blog. I want to bake apple pies and a turky pot pie. Decorate using pine cones for turkeys. Leaves...all kinds of neat things.  Well, It is time for a lunch break for the home school chillens. Maybe a nice cup of almond coffee. If I can only focus!

God keeps blessing

We had music school today. We needed a viola and 2 violins. Andrew had a very nice Yamaha Brass Trumpet. We paid almost $800.00 dollars for that about 5 years ago.  Andrew loved it and became good at it, but found it hard to play all the music he enjoys...mainly Christmas music. So he decided to trade it in. We asked how much. He first said it would be around $525.00.  We found 2 violins that were made in Germany...wow they were beautiful. Hannah is playing the harp...but it has to be custom made. It will not be ready for 6-9 months! So we re-sized her for the violin. She is so tiny...she needed 1/2 size. We found it. Made in Czechoslovakia. Made of rose wood. Oh brother. Of corse the only one they had left. They also had a viola...made where..same place. Beautiful. also with a hefty price. Looked as though, we could only buy one.  Now mind you, these are ALL used.  He could see the frustration and the sad look on my face. So he re-looked at Andrew's trumpet. He looked at Andrew...."you really did take good care of this, I can see that." So he takes Chris's and Hannah's violin and puts it on the counter. "Wow"....what is he thinking?" He grabs Andrew's viola. He looks at me."Now these instrumnets need to have new strings and  if you look real close, you can see a little scuff mark on the corner of this viola...now that won't do. Look here...and it has no shoulder strap on the case.....well, I can't just let you have it like this. You sir took very good care of your trumpet and theses folks did not. So I'll tell you what I will do. I will upgrade your strings, give you 2 new cases with shoulder straps and give all three of these German made stringed instruments for the trumpet." I just stood there. I could not believe it. ( why is that by the way?) So we left...all that we came there for. Ya know I belive that God does not only bless simply because we are following him,  I think it is as simple as....he simply just love us. He gives just because. It is very simple really. We prayed and asked for violins....not anything extremely important...just something that we wanted. We want to use them  for the Lord, sure..but....well I was very moved. God loves because he loves us. Not because of us, but because of Him. Wonderful. Well, there is my blessing and I hope it was a blessing for someone else as well.

We must be doing something right.

We must be do something right.

I got the biggest compliment yesterday. We were at Sam's Club again. We had pizza. ( ya know they do have pretty good pizza) The tables are small so we had our 3 youngest ones in front of us and we sat at the table right behind them.  Our pizza was being cooked so we sat there talking with different couples that were also getting their noon meal. Most of them were seniors. Well...our pizza arrives. So we are passing out pizza to the younger ones....and we continue talking to 3 different couples. I look up and 2 of the woman we were talking to had tears in their eyes. None of these couples knew one another. I asked if there was something wrong...she could not speak, she just nodded her head to our children. I looked back there...didn't see anything unusual................just the kids praying. So I asked what was wrong. She said, "they are praying..look they are just praying...you did not tell them too..they are just praying." I smiled. I gave her a napkin. The other woman could not speak either. Mr. Navy Veteran had tears. "In all my long days, I have never seen anything so precious." Hannah got up from the table and said, "You look like you need a hug." So they sat there and hugged for a while. There was such a silent peace in the area.  She just would not let go of Hannah.  On lookers just looked and everyone was silent. They walked away..and Hannah said, "good bye." One of the checkers came by with tears on her face and complemented us. She said to us, " your kids are so sweet and genuine, you must be doing something right...It is so nice to see this." Well our children are not always angelic..nope they are not...however, they know how to behave in public and they know that it is expected at all times. It was such a special  day to feel the presence of the Lord that day. It was every where. It was beautiful. What a day. I prayed for all the on lookers. Maybe the Lord used the children to encourage, or maybe even to bring them to him. What ever the case may be, I am glad he was able to use us through our children.  Just Mom's and Dad's...keep doing something right!

Monday

Today is Monday! I love Mondays. New beginings. We had an anusual Monday. The older boys had shop at our Pastors house where they are restoring a 1980 Corvette. They are having a blast. Then Maw and Paw ....that be us .....took the wee-ones to the music store to have violins, chellos, and violas measured. We have a family of small arms.  We had a ball with the plastic ukulele (if I spelled that right) . All 5 of us playing our hearts out not knowing at all...whats-so-ever...what we were doing. I think the poor music folks had to go back and put something in their ears. Bless their hearts.  I never relized how expensive everything can get.  I guess I just wanted to take that part of the pain and leave it behind, however....it did catch up with me. Oh - well. I am wanting all my kids to play so that when I am older, my hubby and I can snuggle together and watch and listen to them play Christmass music. Awww. Maybe even have a grand baby or 2 on my lap. God is good.

We had our Pastor and his Wife over this afternoon for lunch. We had an amazing chickn pot-pie!  Oh my goodness.  We make this every year for ...lets see....14 years now and the excitement of the yummilatiousness of this never goes away.  I need to write this down on my blog and remember to take pics. You blog profesionals out there need to step-by-step instructioanalize the blog-challanged person on how to take my digital pics onto this delightful blog. Let me tell you you blog-buddies of mine...this is to die for. Well, ok, not really die. Ya-know...figuratively speaking of corse. I will say that when you taste this you will no-doubtably learn the meaning of numelatious. It is a very old recipe...... Are not the old ones always the nummiest?!. Something is following me!

Well, I had the EebeedeeJeeBeeDees scared out of me this evening. We have a large circular drive that is laid with rock. As you may know it is fall out here in the mid-west. Leaves are falling... ...and with every foot step you hear "crunch"  "crunch"  "Crunch". I was on the phone talking with some family members back in California when I heard....."crunch, crunch, crunch." I looked behind me......no body there. The sun has fallen behind the trees...it is nearly dark.  So I keep walking......."crunch crunch crunch" Ok.....I hear my "crunches"......But I also hear somebody elses crunches too. I look back again......still no one.  So I think I hear an echo.....I know ...stupid....I keep on walking....me crunch.....then not me crunch....me crunch....then not me crunch...This time I am getting a little nervous. I have walked in our driveway that is kinda far from the house and it is now very dark. So I hurry up the drive way....the faster I crunch...the faster the other crunch crunches. Now I am really scared. I saw movement on the ground behind me but I can't see who or what it might be. So I hurry...it is too steep for me to run...but I hurry as fast as I can....with each step of crunches I keep hearing the others. I scream. They keep scrunching. I finally can see the light of the living room....I hurry... but before I can climb the steps of my porch it..... grabs a hold of me leg ......I scream then someone from behind crabs me. I nearly faint. My hearing goes and I feel very woozy. Can you guess what was haunting me.....???  It was a TOAD!! He followed me. That is why I could not see what it was. Who grabed me? It was my husband ...he did not know that I was outside and he heard my screams and came looking for me.

All I can say now is.....OH BROTHER!! So.....that was my exciting night . How about you all? I think I am going to bed now. Night night all.

MMMMMmmmmmmmmm!

Meat loaf....

This is I think our most total yumilatious recipe we have used.

Depending on the size of your brood....

2 pounds of ground angus beef chuck roast (of corse the less fat the better)

I very large bowl.

2 muffin pans (total of 18 muffin holes)

can of non-stick spray

2 very clean hands

1 small can of tomato soup (do not add water)

1 small can of cream of mushroom soup (do not add water)

2 cups of seasoned cornbread  (homemade or store bought corn bread stuffing mix)

2 eggs

1 inch slicies of bacon ( about 18  1 inch slices)

MIX ALL the ingrediants above EXCEPT for the slices of bacon. It is best to remove wedding rings and get them clean hands in the bowl and really get things moving.

When everything is mixed very well....wash hand

Spray muffin pans with non-stick spray

Scoop meat loaf mixture in muffin holes. Just about level it off. Add a tab of REAL butter and place the 1 inch bacon strip over the butter in each muffin hole. Bake at 350 F for about 30 min.

We also had stir fried green beans with butter, garlic and pepper.

We also took about 5 sweet potatoes cut them up into julian strips. Fry them like you would fry potoates with real butter, pepper, sprinkled with brown sugar.

For desert we had fresh fruit with a dab of whip cream made with almond extract.

Yummy

If I could figure out how to place pics on my blog...I would send pics of things we are making, doing ect.

Talk with everyone soon........Happy blogging!

A Family Field Trip

We just got back from our home school field trip. We spent the afternoon at the zoo. It was cold today. Cold enough for a light weight jacket with a few drizzles. It seems to be the best time to go to the zoo. People stay home and the animals are so active. We saw hippos playing with a beach ball. The monkeys were just as hyper as one of my own chillens loaded with coffee. (note...my kids don't drink coffee....but if they did) The girraffes were hillarious. They kept grabbing Hannah's hair and slobering on her arm. GROSS. It was a great day. They learned so much today. They have all turned in their paper work on their favorite animal on why they chose that animal and where they would live if not in captivity.  The one spooky thing was.....the mountain lions. They came so close to my Travis....like they were hungry. Kinda scary.  Not to mention that this one pea-hen had a major crush on Andrew. So............A great day!

When the sewage flows through it.

Well do you all know what a sump pump is? How about a sewage ejector pump? I guess I am an ignorant woman because I have never heard of these. We are from Calif. and we just never needed anything like this. So here we are in the midwest and we have a problem with the sewage ejector pump...then the sump pump. So now our basement has a new wonderful aroma. A cross between a musty-mold mixed with a little hint of sewage. We are cleaning carpets and ripping brand new carpetting out. Disinfecting every space and cemented areas. Oh the fun. We are homeschooling up stairs with all the windows opened and enjoying the cool air. I guess I could be thankfull..at least it is cool and not hot!

Fall is here.........

I love this time of year especailly here in the Mid-West. The leaves are falling off the trees...the leaves are changing colors...soft browns, golds, and yellows.  The fall breeze is here. You can see the squirrles gathering their winter grub to place in their neat little tree-condos. Mornings are becoming crisper. Evenings are cool and breezy. It is just great sitting on my deck and taking in all the wild life. This little squirrel is a wirey thing. He keeps trying to carry a bundle of delicous acorns and it seems to much for him to carry at once. He drops some.....runs down the tree to fetch it....he does not even get half way up the tree before he drops another one. How long is this little feller going to go before he gives up? Oh quiet now.......Mr. Red Cardnal is about 3 feet from me. He keeps looking at me.....but he does not stop eatting. Oh good.....here comes the bats....they love skeeters! The fire flies are starting to dwindle now too. Dragon flies......they also love skeeters. They can get quite large. This one in particular is as long as my hand. OOOhhh......the strom clouds are coming in...you can hear a soft rumble in the distance. It makes you want to whisper. How peacefull. God is good.
