Kids Day for Conservation is coming to Corvallis and the Benton County Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 10 am until 4 pm and your family is invited!
This sixth annual event is free, fun, and focused on hands-on natural resources education designed to help kids make a difference for conservation in their community. Over 35 natural resources-connected organizations and businesses will be on hand to present a wide variety of activities suitable for children of all ages.
There will be do-it-yourself nature art projects. You will discover amphibians, birds, fish and other critters that live in our farms, forests and urban areas. You can build a bird house to take home, climb a "rock wall", and shoot a bow and arrow. Explore a "soil tunnel" to see what goes on underground. Learn how to conserve energy. See how wildfire spreads and how to protect your family from it. Participate in the Oregon Forest Scavenger Hunt and learn about farm and forest products that are produced locally. Come and throw an atlatl and discover the magic of wood! This is only a sample of all that you can see and do at Kids Day!
There will truly be something for everyone at Kids Day for Conservation. The event will be held under cover, rain or shine.
