**Dancing With God

Ephesians 5:22 says "Wives, submit to  your own husbands, as unto the Lord."

...As unto the Lord.

Dancing with God.

If you think it would be a lovely thing to learn to dance with your own husband, think about how lovely it will be to learn to dance the marriage dance with the Creator of the Universe.

Dance with God, my friends.

We are each called to dance with God.  He's the One who created the dance, who taught the first man and the first woman the first steps.

Dancing with God.

Selah.

Ponder this today. Think about it. Wonder about it.

*****************************************************

Learn to dance with your own husband, as though you are dancing with God.  (based on Ephesians 5:22)

Shurleen, thank you! Thank you for always encouraging and/or inspiring me. I love your posts. I blogged about them today on my blog so I could point others to your current topic. *beating heart*

Pardon for the brief levity, but I hope God will just carry me around, since I can NOT dance. *wry smile*

I do get the analogy, though. Definitely something to think on tonight as my earthly dance partner works late.

I love to read your entries. Your post today reminded me of an email I got a while back, author unknown to me:

When I meditated on the word Guidance, I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word. I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing. When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow with the music and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky. When one person realizes that and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness and attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word Guidance. When I saw 'G': I thought of God, followed by 'u' and 'i'. 'God, 'u' and 'i' dance." God, you and I dance. As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life. Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

Oreo,
I have loved reading your thoughts on dancing with your husband. As a former ballroom dancer (many years and another lifetime ago) I sure can relate to this analogy. Haven't decided what Shane & I dance yet-- a nice smooth waltz most often with a little Cha-cha thrown in when I'm not behaving. :)
Have a wonderful day,
Christine

Reminds me .... of the song "Untitled Hymn" .... the Come to Jesus song.
The part that says "Dance with Jesus"~ I love that part!
Thank you for your encouragement~ It is only b/c of HIM that I can dance...
dance with my children, dance with my dh .... as difficult as that may be at times. Dance with Life~

I so appreciate your blogging~ it is a nugget that encourages and uplifts and I thank you~
blessings,
Teena

As someone who has never enjoyed dancing, I must say I enjoyed the idea of dancing with God a very pleasant thought. For some reason, I think he has a very easy time of of fogiving my misteps when I fail to follow His leading.

Blessings to you, I'm hoping you are able to see God and dance with Him as you walk the path he has placed before you.

I have a great dance partner, but like you i am still learning to submit and let him lead the dance. When I do I am usually pleasantly surprised. God has blessed me with a great man. And as you know he knows how to laugh at himself.

Jun. 3, 2006 - "Artist of My Soul"

Posted by WaitingontheLord

Have you ever heard this song by Sandi Patty?
Here are the words - beautiful! Imagine dancing with the God of the Universe!

Oh Lord of light, of form and hue,
Who has created all things new,
Create in me, from shapeless clay,
An instrument on which you play.

God of the dance that planets tread,
Who walks beside and soars ahead,
O let me move to worship Thee;
come, Holy Spirit dance with me

God of the Living Word, Poet of Time,
teach me Your words in Your cadence and rhyme.

O Lord of beauty, Lord of art,
Who gives a song for every heart,
Carve out my life, reshape and mold;
And be the artist of my soul.

Beautiful! I never looked at it this way. My husband and I are blessed with a wonderful marriage. I just loved your posts about dancing! My husbands won't dance with me physically speaking, but we sure do dance! God is awesome!

We are a fairly large homeschooling family with one just starting out in life, some of school age, and one married with a family of his own. There are many things unique about us, but the first thing most people notice is that some of us are black and some of us are white. Thus our name...Eleven Oreos. This blog is for recording journal entries for our children...most specifically our daughters and daughters-in-law...in case there is anything they can learn from our turn on the seesaw.
