Lies We Homeschoolers Love To Believe

If you aren’t superior, you aren’t trying hard enough.

If you aren’t superior, you aren’t good enough.

The people who write books know more than you do.

If you don’t get paid six figures for doing it, then anyone can do it.

Average isn't good enough.

You can be or do anything you want to be or do.

The best shall be first.  The last is a spineless idiot.

You got yer rights!

Competition is healthy and necessary for normal people.

The Jones’ really are better than you are.

All women on the internet know more than your husband knows.

Emotions accurately portray the truth. (If it feels right, it probably is right)

The more money you spend, the higher the quality.

Socialization is a key issue.

Homeschooling is totally about academics.

Your husband doesn’t understand you or the kids.

The internet answers prayers better than God does. Well, at least quicker than He does.

I’m smarter than you, wiser than you, prettier than you, and an all round better person than you.  I have a better husband and nicer kids.  I’m more together than you and manage my life and family and home better than you.  I’ve got it over you in every single way you can think of.

Satan IS the great deciever after all is he not? We all get tricked every once in a while-some more than others. I am beginning to see through the lies! God is good!! I still have trouble with the grass is greener..., but God is working on me!
Blessings!

I know that I have believed several of those lies. I do have to say that average is wonderful!

Jun. 26, 2006 - I like that one about all the women on the internet knowing more than your husband.

Posted by REInvestor

It does seem like there are an awful lot of women on the internet and we all know pretty much. In the end it really is freeing to go back to the husband that God gave me knows best for our family (and even when he doesn't God uses it.)

And thank you, dearest, for your comments on my anniversary post! I'm terrible about making comments, myself, though I read your blog every day through my blogline subscription. Have a most wonderful day - rich in the things that count! Love ~ Patricia

Jun. 27, 2006 - Women know more than men

Posted by

This would be my favorite--All women on the internet know more than your husband knows. Why is it that we don't get this one? It was Eve that was deceived-- not Adam. I look back on the things over the years that I've pushed Shane into doing (for whatever reason) and how miserable most, if not all of them failed. At least now, I can catch myself most often with a "whoops, I'm staying out of it-- you decide"
Have a wonderful day,
christine

We are a fairly large homeschooling family with one just starting out in life, some of school age, and one married with a family of his own. There are many things unique about us, but the first thing most people notice is that some of us are black and some of us are white. Thus our name...Eleven Oreos. This blog is for recording journal entries for our children...most specifically our daughters and daughters-in-law...in case there is anything they can learn from our turn on the seesaw.
