What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for every single soldier stationed in the Middle East?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for the underground church in China and the individuals who run the government of China?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for every child in the world who is subject to physical and emotional abuse, who is subject to the degradation and destruction of pornography?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for every lonely, lost homeless person?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for every person in the world who suffers the anquish of mental illness or disorders?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for every missionary, every Bible translator, every worker who has given their lives to another country for the sake of the gospel?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for Israel and the powers in the Middle East?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for the people of Africa and the agressive spread of AIDS in that country?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for Hollywood and actors and producers and everyone involved in the media, including newspapers and radio and newsmagazines?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for the folks who run the little store down a piece from your house?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for your annoying neighbors?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for your pastor and his family and the families in leadership in your church?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for your husband and every single person he has contact with throughout the day and the company he works for?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying for your mother and your father and your brothers and sisters and the relatives who don't know God and their lives are on a destructive track?
What would happen if you spent a portion of your day, every day, praying about the things that make you angry, that make you cry, that make you sigh, that make you turn your head away because the emotional upheaval of looking too close would turn your life upside down?
I can't tell you for sure what would happen if you did any one of these things.
But I can tell you exactly what would happen if you do not.
Nothing.
Might as well quit worrying and gnashing your teeth and glaring and fussing and sighing and crying and yelling and...just plain do something about it.
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
James 5:16

And what have you...and they...to gain?
