Eleven Oreos

Teena

Dear Teena,

Everytime I hear "Praise You In The Storm" I think of you. I think of the Father first, and feel like crying in gratitude to Him.

:And then I see you...standing in a barren, dry land with fruitless rain pelting all around you, your wet face lifted to the heavens, declaring His faithfulness.

You will never...never!...know what your sharing of your life has given me. Thank you. Thank you for sharing that song with me during such a difficult time in my life. And thank you for letting me see how the knowledge of those words hold you up

You are a wonderful...an amazing...example to me.

Love, Shurleen

Praise You in This Storm
words by Mark Hall/music by Mark Hall and Bernie Herms

I was sure by now, God, You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,
stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
and it's still raining
as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.

Chorus:
And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I've cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again
my strength is almost gone how can I carry on
if I can't find You
and as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away

Chorus

I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth

Chorus

Hi Shurleen! It's nice to see some new blog entries here. I hope this means you are doing better and that your break was helpful.

Your cold sore story was funny! You poor thing, having to deal with such a thing.

Shurleen, what a wonderful surprise to come home and see that you are blogging again! And about ME! How nice. That song truly grips me and I do feel the Lord gave it to me~ as He did you. The song was written about a mom who was praying and crying out to the Lord.... for her dd. When I read the little note on the song jacket it said "sometimes God doesn't take us out of the storm but rides them with us" that means SO much to me~ HE IS RIGHT HERE WITH US~ Shurleen..... I need Him to be. :)

thank you~

Apr. 17, 2007 - Isn't It Awesome??

Someone shared this song with me at a particularly low point several months ago. A time when all I could ask is "why God????" PRAISE Him??? You gotta be kidding :-0 But you know what? I DID learn how to. I'm learning that HE knows what's best for me, even when I don't understand, even when I disagree. I listen to this song daily to remind myself that indeed I CAN and WILL praise Him in each and every storm. Did you know it's fun to tango in the rain? :D

Blessings,
Renee

That is one of *my* songs also.
Every word came straight from my heart and it stirs something deep within me.

We are a fairly large homeschooling family with one just starting out in life, some of school age, and one married with a family of his own. There are many things unique about us, but the first thing most people notice is that some of us are black and some of us are white. Thus our name...Eleven Oreos. This blog is for recording journal entries for our children...most specifically our daughters and daughters-in-law...in case there is anything they can learn from our turn on the seesaw.
